Well, im still here. i don't think im that old. been here since '02 but lurking since '00. Skymax and another member which i can't remember his name right now but i do remember his old black SE which he claims that it was not worth converting the car to a 5speed back in those days. i think he lived or lives up in New York or New Jersey. I think it might have been Need4power??? oh and i also got a bimmer now!!!

Agreed, I'm paranoid of getting any kind of ticket. Closest I've come was doing 60 or so on a road where I kid you not everyone does up to 90 and the limit is 55. I saw FHP up ahead and discretely hit my brakes. Parking ticket....closest I came was my girlfriend was filing for child support from her ex and she only had 2 hours worth of coins to pay the meter at the courthouse parking building. Needless to say I expected time to run out but as it turns out her ex had been in jail for 9 days, his third time in jail. So we got in and ended up back in the car in 30 minutes.

Are you saying you had the Maxima on blocks parallel parked on what appears to be a semi-busy street missing a door, seats, hood and headlight? Thats just begging for trouble. I REFUSE to parallel park on a street again because the only time my Maxima has traded paint with a car it was parked in front of my house and I'm still trying to fix it...probably going to end up bondoing it or buying a front passenger door when I paint it.

i had john (colombianmax) parallel park my car when i went up to Chicago cuz i can't back up worth a damn

except my clutch, at the time, had a large deadspot at the bottom and caught at the top, whereas the only stick car he drives is his 4thgen5spd which has a big deadspot at the top of the pedal and catches immediately... so he kept revving my car to 3000 trying to move it an inch, and i kept stalling and grinding gears in his car.

hahaha nice, I had to parallel park in reverse on christmas eve at a local zoo type place and yeah I had the cop guide me back cause nobody in Florida parallel parks anywhere. We don't even have it on the driving test (apparently we did when my dad was 16 though). I'm not so bad at doing it in forward but even though I can drive a forklift poorly (forklifts have rear wheel steering) I'm not so good at reversing.

I'm hoping someday I'll get the chance to learn how to do this one manuever I do on Need For Speed where I floor it in reverse and then turn and end up going in forward at a decent speed. I've never seen it done in real life but I saw a guy in a STOLEN Mustang do it running from the cops on youtube. To me thats some wasted talent right there. It's one thing to know how to drive your car, but to just get in a car and be able to do stuff like that is pretty impressive at least to me.

Haha, that makes me giggle. I hate driving other people's cars when I'm not used to it. Though I've gotten quite good at Parallel parking. Here in St. Augustine if you want to go downtown you pretty much have to parallel park; we take my moms Buick and Dad's F150 a lot so my car is cake by this point. I used to have to at school too when the parking lot overfilled, some people didn't believe me when I said I got into a spot, it looked like one of the car's that where there couldn't have been there when I parked, but they were.

There is a big difference between driving properly and putting your car in reverse and putting it diagonally back and then straightening it out getting it as close to the curb as humanly possible and when you don't practice something ever, you never learn it. If I lived somewhere where roads never got wet I wouldn't know how to turn the steering wheel to counter torque steer.

Think of what you can drive. You can complain that we can't parallel park but people like my dad with class B CDLs can complain that you can't parallel park with a 40 foot boat trailer or something behind your car. You don't need that kind of skill though so it's okay.

Nonsense. If you know where your car begins and ends you should be capable of placing it where you want, given there is physical space to do so.

Never seen a trailer being parallel-parked, completely impractical and unrelated.

Its this kind of crap attitude that is causing the people not to post anymore.

"Torque steer" on a slippery wet road...................

All the dings on my car's doors and panels are there because of dumb-asses that don't know the size of their vehicles and cannot park to save their friggin life ................ sure its not a requirement when you drive a damn tractor on an open field - prey to your god you never park near me and let me catch you damage my vehicle.

As the man said there:

^^^^

all you people need to learn to drive properly if you cant park the damn car
Anybody saying different is plain wrong and don't belong on the road where some of us that look after our vehicles are forced to share the same space with you selfish bastards
