kinda 3rd gen related, in the game Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 (based on the Wangan Midnight anime) theres a guy with a Z31 turbo 300zx (VG30ET) and he blasts by at 300km/h and this guy goes "WOW IS THAT THE VG30E ENGINE?" i almost shat my pants when i saw VG30E being mentioned

funny thing is later on another guy says "not bad for a VG30E", then the guy with the Z31's engine blows

 

So it's a Japanese cartoon about Japanese cars and you're surprised they named a Japanese engine? If it happened on Growing Pains or Roseanne i'd understand the surprise. But not on some anime CARtoon. Reminds me of my friend's co-worker who wouldn't stop talking about how his AE is the main car on some Japanese cartoon show...to some girl he was trying to impress. Even brought up the intro on youtube. Kind of felt bad for the guy.
