I heard a clanking noise today after rolling over some bumps in the road. I looked at the wheels and my first instinct was that the caps on my wheels were loose, after checking all the wheels thoroughly I found that the brake pads in my right rear caliper are rattling. Does this mean the caliper is bad?Can I fix it without spending money to buy another one?

 

1) there's just 1 rear swaybar....
2) what's that got to do with rattling pads?

well... have someone pull the handbrake up and down and watch the left (presumably working) side and compare it to the rattling right side. also you can remove the caliper and see if maybe one of the slidepin bolts broke, or if the slidepins are seized, or if the pad retainer clips are missing, etc.

 

Seems like an anti-rattle clip was missing from the caplier. I put one in and the rattle went away
