Motor Mounts
I just found out my motor mounts need replacing. I'm having problems with the alignment being out of wack and the motor mounts were one problem. I also need to replace some bushings on the control arms and tie rods.
Anyway, I went to the auto parts store and they told me there is one front motor mount and 2 rear ones. I replaced the front, but for the life of me I cant find the second rear mount. I only found one. The one directly behind the front one that attach to the middle brace thing under the engine. Does anyone know if there really is two rear motor mounts? I'm wondering if the parts person was looking at some other optional rear engine mount for a left handed car?
Any thoughts or experience on that?
Thanks much.

I did see one on the tranny. I don't know if thats considered one of them or not though. I looked in my Haines manual but its a pretty lousy manual. It only shows the 89 model motor mounts even though the book says its for 89's to 92's. I'll have to look under the hood again and see if I can find the one thats mounted higher.
Thanks

There are 4 mounts on the Engine/Trans unit. The two main mounts that support the weight and torque of the engine are connected from the engine block to the cross-member that runs under the engine.
There are two smaller mounts that support the transmission. One is basically under the master brake cylinder, and the other is towards the left headlight.

Thanks for the info. I just needed to confirm with someone who knew more than this Haines book. I'll be changing the rear motor mount this weekend.
I was also going to change the control arm bushings and the book says you have to change the whole control arm. You cant just put new bushings on. Sounds a little expensive and painful.
