Welcome! Well, I don't have lots of practical experience, but I'm an okay "armchair mechanic". No, I don't fix furniture but I know a few things about the theory of how general stuff works and can regurgitate info pretty well. I usually try to be careful not to comment on things I'm not sure about or things left to the pros who've actually done it, but I try to help when I can.

I'd probably do more of my own work on my car if I had a heated (or unheated) garage and not just a driveway. Sometimes I just farm out the work because the weather's crappy or I'm too lazy.

Like you I've been hanging out a while before joining (I just got my car last month) and it's good to hear there'll be more people around to help.

Tell me about your Plymouth - I went through a weird period in my teens where I was quite the musclecar buff. I say "weird period" because I had no money and no car but was still buying things like "Popular Hot Rodding" and "Mopar Muscle" and trying to figure things out like putting repo Hemi heads on a RB block and putting them in a Dart using Elephant Ears blah blah blah.....

okay, I'll just shut up and go to bed now

the plymouth

yea its a 65 valiant. for now its totally stock but i went through the good ol slant 6 and redid the whole engine, its got 65k origional miles on it. im from iowa and the winters are hard on old acars and it shows in places, but other then that its a great little car. i plan when i get out of college (when i have a heated garage also) to dive into it pretty deap repalcing the slant six with a 440 or maybe even do some major cuttin and torching and puttin in the 428 race hemi. i love the old mopars though. in my hometown of earlville my frineds uncle just built the tri state raceway. some guys has a big writeup on it at www.crazyspeed.com i think. its a continuasly poured concrete track with the most grade dwonhill allowed by nhra, and ihra. there is some excellent racing goin on there in the season and u can pull somefast times out of the track fairly easily. i havent yet ran any of my cars because of a little license problem but if u are ever in the region stop on bye and trell me first ill be glad to see ya out there, tell osme more ppl too we need to get more of the tuner crowd out. thanxs
