Lowering kit with springs/shocks, best price?
Lowering kit with springs/shocks, best price?
Anyone have any tips as to who has the best price for a lowering kit for my '92 GXE? Looking to get the springs, shocks and struts in a combo kit for a great deal. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Koni are the best shocks. Tokico comes in second from our selection. As far as the springs go, "best" varies for what you want. I've heard and read eibach's have the best ride/performance, but they are only a moderate drop (1.2"), Where as B&G, Intrax, and Sprint are all lower, meaning lower center of gravity, but much harsher ride.

The strut mounts are typically reusable, but the strut dust boots are usually trashed unless some previous owner replace them within the last 5 years or so..

Car looks absolutely sick. I expect an extensive thread with lots of pics
Beautiful Pearl Paint job too. Makes me want to strip mine down when I get some money and get the body perfect and shave the antenna. Awesome job..Back on topic:
I think the size of the wheel and offset/ tire size are the main attributes to rubbing. Generally dropping the car on Eibach's or B&G's you won't have a problem with most normal size wheels (16"-18"), anything lower like an Intrax or Sprint (1.8";2.0") You may have to roll fenders. But I'm sure someone who has actually ran with them will chime in sometime.
If not, do a search, there are a bunch of helpful suspension threads.
17x7 +22mm offset 225/50/17 (25.9" outside diameter, compared to 25.5" stock outside diameter) rub on STOCK springs in the back when cornering, over speed bumps, and if you dump the clutch in 1st at a stoplight................ if you want something to stick out that far AND drop the car, you'll need to get the fenders rolled in... unless you want a nice little gouge in your sidewall. Don't ask me how I know this.

well you also accelerate quicker on those smaller tires... but get worse MPG.... I run bigger-than-stock tires with the VE tranny but i'm gonna get a longer 5th gear to put in my tranny so i'll have longer-than-stock-VG top gear. I just hope to hell that I can still drop my car on these tires without having to run majorly negative camber (so the tops won't rub)

Is it me or is everyone confusing Super White for Pearl? Unless the monitor at school has a different color to it, that looks like what he already had; Super White.
Matt, when do you plan on coming back to Chicago? I plan on redoing my max as well and would like to "inspect" yours
perhaps you can recommend me a bodyshop
