Moving to Texas
Well guys, I just took a job in Houston and will be starting my drive there from northern Michigan tomorrow (Friday) morning. It's about 1400 miles. I am excited about moving to an area that actually has car clubs of any type and being in the neighborhood of a couple of other enthusiasts (Matt and Mike). I will snap a few pics along the way and post them whenever I get a chance. I should be pretty busy, tho, because I start work on Monday.
Yay, no garaging the Maxima this winter! I will also have the money to finish my list of mods - sway bars and rear disc conversion. Anyway, wish me luck on what has been described to me as a long, boring drive...

awwww sheit, there's goes the community!
Where in Houston you moving? this town is only 100 miles wide.
Enjoy the weather on the way down.. it's supposed to get into the mid 80s here today, but is much cooler the rest of the drive north.
Least you won't have to be driving through 100 deg heat in a uhaul with no AC and the heater stuck on high!! (yeah, that was my move to houston.. ugh!)

have a safe drive! remember.... if you happen to change lanes to the left to pass a slower-moving car only to realize the car you passed was imaginary, then it's time for a nap! unless you have a relief driver like I did haha.
just like bull nuts are "mountain oysters". I don't see too many cattle or oysters in the mountains.....
suburbans were the thing 20 years ago. now it's 4 door 4x4 diesels and excursions/expeditions/navigators/escalades. suburbans are sooooo cliche'.

Well, I made it! I took some pics along the way and I will post them when I have a minute. SUPER busy this week, so will do whenever I have a chance...1500 miles in two days...
but haha Maxitech you did my stunt... TWICE, 2 days in a row. I drove 850 miles nonstop to and from Chicago this year but at least i had 3 days to chill in between! enjoy your michigan summer as your houston winter haha

Yeah I'll come out to Lemons.
I haven't been to Houston, but my best friend went to college at U of H. He told me NEVER go to the 5th Ward. He lived there for a while and he said he heard more gunfire than at some shooting ranges.
He was on the track team, though, so he could outrun most of the criminals that weren't packing.

^^^ I went up there to look at a parts car once, didnt seem that bad, but yes a poor area. Other then that its not really in the way of anything, so you never end up going there unless it is your destination.
There's certain areas of town I simply don't go to. When we moved down here, we found a couple rental houses in our budget in Missouri city. took us 3 houses into the neighborhood to figure out we didn't belong. People literally stopped and stared at the two white folks looking lost in their 'hood!
Ironically, we were in the wife's Altima at the time. I wound up selling it 2 years ago to a .orger that lives in MO city a couple blocks from where we'd looked at a house and got scurred and left.

The race is at MSR-Houston this weekend. It'll be going basically friday through sunday.
directions to the track are to take 288 south out of town almost to Angleton. Take the SECOND C-R 46 turn and go left (east). It's at a big blinky yellow light intersection- can't miss it. Ive you get to Angleton, you've gone too far.

actually we're running tires 3" shorter than factory for extra torque to the ground.
took it out for a test drive yesteryday and it spins the tires in all forward gears. yeah we got enough torque.
