3rd gen owners around 18-20 yrs old

Ok right now I pay $2800 for insurance under my own name.
Im 19 with a perfect record Ive had my Full licence for almost 2 years
and insurance under my name for more then a year.
The insurance for my GXE runs out Nov 22. Im hoping to sell the car by then but If I dont I'll just take it off the road.

Now for all you guys (yes just guys) 18-20
with insurance for your 3rd gens
Under your name (not just your listed under your parents policy)
about how much do you pay a year, what city do you live in,your coverage (bare minimum or full ), and from which company.

I know $2800 is too high and I'm looking for cheaper insurancenow but I wanted to find out what you guys are paying.

God, that's terrible man. I have a terrible driving record (4 wrecks and 1 ticket) but those wrecks were all before I hit age 16, and I'm 19 now... but my insurance is only $2000 a year and they haven't forgotten all those wrecks completely yet! 2800 for a perfect record bites big time!

with what company

I know it sucks. My dad uses an insurance agent and there supposed to find the best price but im beggining to doubt that now. and it sucks because no it getting colder so I cant work as much and Ill have to start classes in dec. so If I can save $1000 on insurance I'll at least have some more $$ to put into my store.

I'm 19 and i used to pay $5000 a for my 89' SE it was that high because I had totaled my first car 94'RX-7 and i got 4 insurance points for so NJ hit me hard. I can't pay that much anymore so I swithed the car in to my mom's name.

Well... I'm 21 now, clean driving record.

When I was 20 I was paying $190 a month for full coverage on the RX-7. Because of my clean driving record and all State Farm gave me an "Adult Rate" on the Maxima. I'm paying ~$450 a year for comprehensive and liablity. (Yeah, no full coverage for the Maxima)

BTW- When I turned 21, the RX-7 dropped to $110 a month for full coverage!!!

Yea Man

Although I am on my moms insurnance. They know that I drive the car because I am under 25 and drive it to work and school on the statement. I pay around $1500 a year for an 89 Nissan Maxima with full coverage. I have a good record only 1 ticket since they clear your record. But it was a cheap ticket and really didnt affect my insurance. When I am up at school I dont drive it a lot because there is really no place to drive it in the North Georgia Mtns. I really want a 4x4 but insurance will be to high for me to pay if I get one so I will keep the maxima. I have had it now for 4 years and me and her have been though a lot but she is a great car. It was my moms car then I bought it from her because she treated it like crap so I take good care of it now.

Hi, I'm 19. And I pay about $3000 for full coverage in a year. I go through Allstate. I live in Essex, Vermont. This insurance is way too high. But if I want a Maxima, then I'm gonna have to pay the price. :-)

i pay $1000 a year, full coverage. have a perfect record and i'm 18 years old.

the reason it's so cheap is that my dad knows the insurance salesman and i have a good student discount(not after this semester though )

trick to getting off for tickets

I only have 1 ticket on my record, and I'm pretty sure it's gone by now, it was a long time ago. However, I have been issued 4 citations in my driving career.. two words have saved me from having a terrible insurance premium: Driver Improvement. It's a class you can take for like $70, and you don't have to pay the fine and the ticket never makes it to the MVD office, and thus Mr.Insurance man is none the wiser. I dunno if this school is in every state, but I know it's in New Mexico and Arizona for sure.. hope it helps someone :P. Oh yeah and to take it, you just tell the officer you'd like to contest the ticket in court, and then go to metro court and ask to be enrolled in the class. It's for 2 days like 3 1/2 hours each class and it's actually kind of fun the first time..

yeah pay it

then when your done driving cancel and get a refund.

And for the rest of you belive that your insurance is so much cheaper then mine and most of you have tickets. and $3000 for full coverage isnt alot. I pay $2800 for NOTHING but liability and my record is perfect and thats after the %10 reduction from that stupid class. I'm just ****ed that I wasted $2800 on Insurance this last year.

For the love of god!

**** guys! Man, im 27 but when i was 16 until 21 my insurance was between 55 and 135 a month (depended if i had full coverage) UNDER MY OWN NAME!! Is it just that more outside of Oklahoma? Do you think its because of crime rates/population/city size? When i lived in Texas it was a bit more but not much. I just cant believe how much your insurance is. Man, i feel for you guys....Charles

P.s. the insured car was a Mustang GT.

I'm 20, paying ~$2000/year and I had 8 points on my record at the time I signed with my new insurance company.....considering that I've got a pretty sweet deal for such a bad record! but before on my dads plan (before he booted me ) we were only paying ~$110/month on Geico!

Re: 3rd gen owners around 18-20 yrs old

I pay $1950 a year for full coverage on my '94 GXE, and for liability only on my '85 F150 (4x4 makes a big difference in the price) I have my own policy, and have had it since I was 15, I am 20 now. I have 7 tickets and 1 accident. The thing I did is say that I drive my truck all the time and the Max hardly ever, which saves money.

Try calling your company and see if you can get a discount for the driving only a few miles each year. I think its like 8-10,000. That helped me, also if you have a 3.0 in either HS or College they give about $150 a year discount.

I live in Fairfax, VA during the summer, but have my insurance under Blacksburg, VA (college) Didn’t make that much of a difference, but I know that it is high in Northern Virginia because we have some or the worse traffic. My company is Nationwide.

I just got a quote for a 6 Month Policy The URL for the info is at the bottom. I am only 16 though. You can easily lower the insurance by lowering the amount of coverage and raising the deductibles.
My quote was 2350 for only 6 months. I don't think that it cost that much though, I have a clean driving record an all, for the 5 months I have been driving. I am on my parent's policy though. My brother is 20 and he has a 1996 Maxima. His Insurance, full coverage through state farm in Georgia, is only 145 a month. He has a a pretty messedup driving record, 3 wrecks his fault, no speeding tickets though. Another way to lower insurance is to buy a really old sorry car and make yourself the primary driver on that.

I'm 23 with 2-3 tickets on my record (and 3 wrecks- 2 my fault, 1 the other guy).. I've got enough coverage to plow down a ferrari dealership and not sweat it, and I pay about $185/month.

Insurance is a scam!

With all of you guys talking about insurance rates and stuff it got me thinking about how much my rates are. Since I'm 21 years old and going to College I'm still under my parents policy which helps big time. At the moment the cost is 440 dollars every six months. I asked for a discount based on how many miles the car is driven and he said I could drop the price another 60 bucks if I drive the car only 3 thousand miles a year. Normally I drive 10 thousand or so but since I"m in a dorm the car is garaged 6 days a week. The guy also said that once I passed my 8th year of driving I would be able to take off another 25 percent from 380 bucks which comes out to about 295. I have only one speeding ticket but traffic school took car of that. I feel for you guys who are paying all of that cash, in case your interested we use USAA for our insurance.
