5 speed swap done but have a slight issue....

Sup Guys ....

I did my 5 speed swap 2 days ago. It was pretty straight forward. However when I come to a light or after parking my car, my engine revs to almost 2000 Rpm. Then it drops and stabilizes after a minute. I am using Auto ECU and using the stock auto intake. Can this be the cause of the issue ??.. also It seems to feel like I lost some torque when I drive it around town. !st gear is great but 2-3-4-5 seems kinda " eh" . I`ll rev around close to 3K Rpm on the freeway at 60mph. Slipping clutch ??? I looked in FSM and also have no codes. Just for the record, I didnt have this problem before i did the swap ??..

can anyone shine a light on this ???

Thanks

rpm sounds about right, and when you have a slipping clutch you'll know it. Idle issue is the ECU, I can't stand driving swap cars with an auto ecu.

Tip: adjust your clutch pedal so it engages nice and close to the floor.

you would definitely know if you had a slipping clutch. once you've had one trust me you KNOW.(as krrz350said)

3k sounds a bit high for cruisin at 60 i'd think 2.7k myself i *think* i usualy get 3k around 70mph but i could be wrong.... when i go out to hit up the store today i'll check for you...

and get the right ECU!!!!

ECU ???.... I take it the ecu is trying to compensate for the load of the auto trans huh ? Do i need to swap anything else or just plug n play ??? Do should I just leave it alone and live with it??

On another note. I was getting the feel of my car being a manual last night and wow ... accel all the way to 140 was nice and quick. I`m happy with that ....=)

auto ecu will make the RPM behave weird every once in a while, due to just that.. it expects drag from the auto. like when a/c is on and i'm in gear about to launch, if i start lifting off the pedal before it grabs, it will jump to 1200. doesn't do it with a/c off tho.

Yep, ECU will clear up the issue and give it the correct RPM maps.

you don't need the vi period, but the wiring might for it might already be there, check your car or do a search.

I know when I sent my ECU back over to nistune I had a auto ecu to use to move my car around the house and such and it idled at 2k and wouldnt rev over 2k. Though that could have been because it was a 93 auto ecu and my car is 91. OBD0 vs OBD1 maybe. I would try and find ECU.

you can try unplugging the TCU. I plan to on mine, whenever i get around to putting my 5spd ECU in.

also that ECU might have had something wrong with it. do you have another maxima you can test out the 5spd ECU on to see if the ECU is just fubar'd?
