I have an 89 maxima and I would like to know if the top firewall heater hose with the water valve connects to top or bottom metal inlet on the engine. Right now the bottom hose on the firewall is going to the the top metal inlet on my car, I don't know if this is correct.

 

Top goes to top, bottom to bottom, from the heater core connections all the way to the engine connections.
