Easily remove Comfort Control?

What's the trick? I unscrewed all the front screws I could see but there's the 2 mounting plates on the side blocking it in from the plastic infront of it.

thanks.

the thing that makes cold air come from your vents. or hot air. or..... lukewarm?

manual version.

I completely pushed the "temp" tap inside the thing. i think it's time for a fix on that stupid plastic track.

jus pull those mounting plastic plates to the point where u think its jus gonna break...then gently take ur climate control out ( its a short cut )

other wise u can take ur speedo meter cover and the front cover that covers around ur climate control and stereo etc etc...

yeah gotta love how they are mounted from the back. if you unbolt enough stuff you can push the unit in then turn it sideways to access the harnesses on the back of it

Sorry to bump this but I haves a problem. my track is completely busted. i would like to upgrade to auto climate control but the odds of me finding one and then the undertaking would be big.

is there any other comfort control that wont break as easily? i actually think my only other option is removing the track completely dremeling a small nook into the space where it used to be and installing some sort of metal product of the same size into it.

the track does not break easily, people just don't take the time to keep it clean and lubricated.

I've had mine sieze up several times on different 3 gens I've owned/driven. The wya I fixed them was to use an xacto knife and smooth the edges on the slider. what happens is they dig in at an angle and create a ledge.. then it gets stuck there again.. and worse.. makeing the problem worse.

So I took it apart and smoothed over the edges with a razor knife and the problem went away. last time I had to fix the one in my VE was 8 years ago.

Soooooo.. If yours is broken, go to a junkyard and get another manual climate control unit. check the slider before installing it. if it's got any grooves or dings in it, clean them up. then install the 'new' unit and move on with life.

and no.. you do NOT want to try to instal an auto climate control in your car. you have to replace everything under the dash.
