Alright, i have a 1994 nissan maxima sohc autmatic v6 3.0. I started the car and im hearing a back fire coming from the intake manifold i dont know why the plugs and spark plugs are brand new. timing is set didnt do it with a timing gun just loosen the distrubutor bolt and turned it till it was smooth... uhm E G R pipe is broken but fixed it with sum liquard metal and high temp sliacon... uhm Clean the entire throttle body and put on gaskets back on... so my porblems are 1 Back firing form the Intake.

4 hooked it up a diagonise machine that is 15,000 dollars and told me its nothing wrong wit it.... WTF!!!..
5 No response from transmission when on daigonse machine....

if anyone can help greatly appriecated " and i know my spelling isnt great"

So let me get this right..................

You cannot be bothered to set the timing properly and you then use a $15000 machine that cant tell you **** about either your timing or your anything else? ............... yet still complain?

You looking for attention?

If the car always feels rough and feels like it's running on 5 or less cylinders, you could have bad injectors.

Your timing is off. Your caveman timing technique is not even close to accurate.

Instead of using a $15000 machine that tells you nothing, how about trying a $20 timing light, and getting the timing set RIGHT, then if it's still backfiring, post again.

this is to be done on a warm engine with the tranny in park/neutral, at idle.

get a timing light and put the pickup on the #1 cylinder wire. shine it down at the crank pulley (there's an arrow pointing at the timing marks) and what you want to see is the arrow pointing at the 4th mark from the left.
0...5..10.15.20.25.30
|...|...|...|...|...|...|

if it is wrong, at the base of the disty there is a 14mm-headed bolt (also phillips head screwdriver will work... but sockets > screwdrivers 99% of the time on those type of bolt/screw combos). loosen that just a little bit, and then turn the whole distributor a little bit until it does line up with the 15 mark. once it lines up, tighten the lock bolt at the base of the distributor. rev the engine a few times, then let it idle again for a few seconds, and shine the timing light again to make sure it's still right.

I know the obvious had already been stated but for sure set the timing right, make sure your injectors are good by testing the resistance of them with a warmed up engine and lastly it may be a faulty distributor (cam sensor). I've seen distributors do funny crap on VGs, kinda act like rev limiters but at low RPM like 2-3,000. In some cases you can connect the Consult and put it in Real Time data monitor mode and floor the engine and watch a camshaft position sensor code pop up even with no check engine light.

Your cam timing might also be off. If your gonna do the water pump it would be a good time to change the timing belt, tensioner, thermostat, cam seals and crank seal while your in there. Then you can be sure you have your cam timing dead on, then set your ignition timing.

Or just take it to the pros like you've mentioned.

+1, where "1" is then substituted for the largest number the human brain can comprehend.

like... even if you paid a shop to take your car for a month and give it back turbocharged..... somehow, i just know something wouldn't end well for you or someone else.

i was more worried about potential injuries to people when he wrecked it.. passengers or people in other cars, etc. a car is just a car... you can get another one, even if you cry over it. can't get a person back.

"dead maxima" meant that if you couldn't even handle the problem that you created this thread about and just threw in the towel and took it to a mechanic, that you DEF can't handle a turbo, period. The maxima would die in a wreck, not because of the turbo. there is no supercharger for this car. and epic lawls @ boosting a VG auto.

and what's tihs about eh VG30DE? you can't put one in this car. won't fit under the hood. and the only transmissions that went with the VG30DE are for RWD, and don't even bother trying to say you're making your car RWD, because you can't even handle an intake backfire, good luck doing RWD (which precisely zero people have done. so don't ask us for tips.)

If he cant fix his timing, how is he going to getting it running with a turbo? I wouldn't worry much about a wreck....

doing a turbo and engine swaps of that measure should be left to people who did years of research like joeboost
