Would you trust?
Would you trust your college to rebuild your vtc's. I plan on getting them the TSB's and the FAQS offline. I figure, its free and after they do if they do it right ill use synthetics and the toyota filter to have the rebuild last as long as possible. So what do u guys think? Trust them or no? I goto Pennslyvania College of Technology.

Hmm maybe. The #1 thing is to mark EVERYTHING before pressing the VTC assembly apart. But if it's free like you say, I would just get brand new VTC assemblies and have them put those one. Just be sure the oil gallies that feed the VTCs are clean! I have one rebuilt one and one new assembly in mine. One of the rebuilds did not hold and made noise again after about 7k.

Depends on the people
I go to the auto tech shop to get my car fixed whenever it needs it. I've gone in there for:
1. New struts
2. New shocks
3. New gasket caps
4. New engine mount
5. Had the power steering fixed
6. Much more
I've been doing it for years, and I've never had a problem. It really depends on the people in the class. Most of the kids in auto tech (about 80%) are just jacka**'s and don't know jack crap. But the other 20% really know what they are doing and are more than trustworthy when it comes to this stuff. Of course, the auto tech teacher wouldn't let any of the newbie's near my car anyay.
I had a friend in there a year ago. He fixed some stuff in my car. He spend his entire auto tech II class building a turbo charged V8. I remeber it pretty well because he painted the entire thing bright green (I don't really know why, though). Anyway, the thing ran great (or at least sounded great, after all, it was sitting on a table the whole time).
