Similar Radio Mounting Brackets?

I'm about to head out to Pull-A-Part with hopes of finding some radio mounting brackets among other things. IIRC though, none of the Maximas had any. Are there brackets from other cars that are similar enough to work in a 3rd Gen?

what do you mean by radio mounting brackets? like the metal brakets that held the stock stereo? are you needing a bracket for your aftermarket deck? If so when i mounted my aftermarket deck in, i pulled out the stock system, it was one bracket that held the stock deck and the push out tray, i took my aftermarket deck and mounted it into the stock bracket so that i could keep the push out tray, looks damn good to

I'm don't know exactly which ones may be the same or similar, but you might try looking at the stanza, 240's, sentra, of the same year models as the 3rd gen.

Ok, I'll give those a shot. Are the interiors pretty similar to the 3rd Gen?

The stanza is very similar to the 3rd gen(sometimes dubbed the "minima"), i'd say you have your best chance there..

Are yours missing, or do you just want more or what?

I actually made some out of sheet metal for mine.
I didn't like the slide out drawer or the cubby in my car, so I made new brackets and moved the radio down into the center of the hole, then cut a piece of lexan to fit around the radio..
took me about an hour to make all of it and get it fitted properly.

Do you know what years that generation of Stanza spans? I checked the Pull-a-part site and they have 7 from 87-90.

Someone stole the stock radio and the brackets with it. So, I need some more. I thought about making some like you did, but I have nothing to reference from.

The Fourth generation (1990–92) stanza is the one you need to look for.

ahh okay.. makes sense now. I wondered if that was the case based on the other threads you've been posting.

Yea, the bastards really did a number on the Max. It's actually been enjoyable, though, gettin' her put back together. Over the past few weeks I've had to install a door window, quarter window, back glass, rig a new switch to start her (had to hotwire at first) and replace all the speakers and h/u. Most of it has been cosmetic, the engine and tranny are still strong. I've modded some other stuff, mainly just for the hell of it (Craig's Auto-up switch, Michael's "shifter in the oven" trick). You guys have all been a great help. I'd probably still be fumblin' around with door panels if I hadn't found this site.

thin(ish) metal strap (cut into 4 pieces, about 4" each), drill holes with metal bit for screws to go through, mount the tray with the H/U... profit?

Guess it depends on how ghetto you want it to be... could always cut more strips and bend them so you can tighten them to the rest of the aseembly, and bend the rest of the strips to the mounting holes would be ugly, but probably pretty sturdy.

Was mainly a last resort, I'm sure you'll find one in the meantime.

Well... if the search keeps goin' the way it has, ghetto it'll be. I'm not really worried about how it looks, though, cuz it'll be hidden. As long as it'll hold up.

infiniti had no equivalent to the max for the 3rd gen.
my G20 has different brackets than the 3rd gen, the 4th gen has totally different brackets.

That bracket is for the return spring in the shifter assembly. Check this out:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/28037a-...ml?cPath=1610&

That'll probably be my best bet.

I know I have an extra set, with a busted cubby (the kind with the flip down front, it just stays down.)
if none of the guys here or in the classifieds have a set, I would give mine up pretty cheap.

Lol, gotcha.

So that's just for one of the brackets? I figured it would be the pair. If it's just one then I'm still looking at $20 after shipping.

no i mean, it holds things; it has the cubby with the flip down door, but the place on the door that holds the spring is broken.

Ah, that's too bad. I'd like to have one of those. Right now, I'm using one I got at Wally World. I bought the kit with hopes it'd have a bracket. Obviously, it didn't . The little cubby that came with it is handy though.

Anywho, what'll ya let those brackets go for? I'm in 39073.
