fuel injection hose ok for tranny to radiator?

I just put in a new radiator and was getting new hoses but the kid said all he had was fuel injection hose. I want to make sure its ok to use fuel injection hose for the tranny fluid lines that go to the radiator. I know tranny fluid has some good detergents in it. I don't know if the fluid will eat the hose up or whatnot. Do I need to go get specific hoses for this?

Crackpipe - that's funny.

He needs SAE J189 "Transmission Oil Cooler Hose" - the size is 5/16" and you need 2 pieces. 2 Foot 4 Inch & 1 Foot 4 Inch + 4 Hose clamps.

For VG anyway. Not sure if transmission oil is safe in those other hoses. Worse comes to worse you have to get a new tranny

The guy at the supply store said ATF will eat away at the other hoses, and the stuff could go into the fluid. I don't know if he was blowing hot air though. The SAE J189 is specific to Trans fluid yes - I can't say for sure you need it though - but it is very cheap so why not buy it. I think I paid a buck a foot or something. (I forgot to add, if anybody on the ORG needs the complete hose list for the VG - let me know, it's in PDF format but I could maybe convert it to JPEG).

Power steering / Trans fluid lines are different than fuel lines, and should not be used in place of one another.

Thanks for the confirm sir. Hopefully that fuel line I got on there doesn't get to screwed up, or screw anything up in the 1.5miles I gotta go to work. Will be replacing on my way home from work.

He wasn't, every single coolant line on the toyota tundra out front will back me up (radiator cooler failed, bad bad news) now a year later every single coolant line is soft & swelling up, it sucks. I once had someone bring me a car that they just bought & the previous owner "Thought the power steering fluid went here" it was the brake reservoir! And it junked EVERYTHING, I had to do calipers, hoses, master, and then when I was all done I couldn't bleed one wheel because even the proportioning valve went bad from it. ATF & powersteering fluid makes the rubber weaken & swell over time = op, you'll be fine on your way to work, but in a few months not really.

ya I looked inside the FI hose when I replaced it with the proper j189 tranny fluid cooler hose. It didnt seem affected at all in the few miles I put on it. Glad I asked you guys and confirmed there was a special hose for tranny. Otherwise Im sure a year or so later Id be screwed
