How hard is it to install front and rear sway bars for my 90 SE?....I'm not sure which ones to get yet either. Any of you guys (or girls) that have installed them yourself? I'm able to do SOME work (FSTB install, Brake rotors/lines/pads, UR pulley, etc) Please Advise!!!

Yo Bro, if you can do all that,

and you have ramps or jackstands, then you shouldn't have any problems switching sway bars. I think most of the guys have done their own.

Re: Yo Bro, if you can do all that,

Ok...because I really haven't even looked at them closely, so I really don't know what I'm getting myself into...as far as the stuff that I have done...the UR Pulley was the most difficult, but I ended up taking that to my local import shop.

Where is a good place to get them? (Besides stillen...they're too expensive)

Yup.. if you can work on brakes, you can do this.. it's a pretty simple thing, you just hafta think about it when you're putting the end links on the fronts (they don't exactly explain very well in the instructions)..

the rest of it is pretty simple.. just remove old bar and bolt up new one.. you'll need some big tools to do the reat, but not too bad.. it's a 17 or 19mm socket.

took me probably 2-2.5 hours to do mine, and it was the very first time I ever worked on the car at all.. (back then, I even took it to a lube place to change the oil because I was a lazy bas****)..

as for sources, check out NOPI, lightningmotorsports.com, and others out there.. normal price on them is about $245+ shipping.. I got mine 2 years ago for $225 though.. you can probably still find a place and get them for that price if you bargain with 'em.

RE: How do I install

My qustion is why do you need rear sway bars when you already have one. I drive a 90SE too. I heard from several guys here that if you install FTSBs, the car response very well. By the way is that pearl color or white? show us a detal picture of the engine compartment. I love what you did with the car.

Re: RE: How do I install

for the engine...ok i'll do that in the near future...I have a front and rear STB from freedon design and it did indeed help a ton....but I know the maxima's already come with "ok" sway bars, but they are kinda dinkey. Therefore, Larger ones will help keep the body roll to a minimum.

the stock sway bars are very flimsy and don't help much for performance driving.. they make the car handle well enough for a family man to drive the wife and 2.5 kids to the mall, but they won't hold !#@) against any car that handles well. you can replace the stock sways with stronger ones, and it makes a huge difference in handling. the FSTB is nothing compared to what the sway bars do.
here's a couple pics of the Sus Tech front and rear bars right next to their respective stock bars..

Rear:

It's hard to tell from the photos, but the ST rear bar is quite a bit larger than the stock one. the front bars are almost the same size, but the ST bar is solid steel, and the stock one is hollow.. the ST bar weighs about 40lb, and the stock one weighs about 8.
