Swapping brake lights

Is it ok to swap the brake lights from one car to another, and just beat it in?
Or does that black weather seal wear out once you take it off?

there are a few nuts that hold the light on.. i think 3? mabe 4? I should know this by now. Anyhow, the black weatherseal is actually a gooey mess... it tends to collect dirt too, which sucks. If you can heat it up or something and get all the old crap out, then put all new sealant in there, that's the best thing you can do. that way it will be clean, and you can be sure you get a watertight seal. and ALWAYS remember to pop the rubber caps for the sidelights in place... i didn't, and my spare well filled up with water, and began to stink so bad i almost gagged everytime i stepped into my car.

heat the goop up with a hair dryer, and it comes out fairly easily. you will need patience while the goop heats up though. do it from inside the trunk and keep applying pressure to the tail light until it comes out.
MAKE SURE YOU UNDID ALL THE NUTS FIRST.
