Ball Joint... Stuck
Ball Joint... Stuck
well all this morning i have been trying to replace my passenger side ball joint. It does not seem to come apart at all. I have removed the control arm and all is left is the ball joint hanging there. I wacked it with the hammer and it still wont move at all. I have tired the ball joint U tool and it oozed all the greece out now....
The question is, how do i remove the ball joint? or i should just go n let someone do it?

give the spindle a good rap with a hammer.
well i dont want to spend more money on tools that i use once and i saw in other theards that i dont need to use it.
Borrow a larger hammer from someone..Or eat a bowl of wheaties and whack the shiet out of it with the hammer you have, multiple times..

If you have access to a propane torch, try heating up the round part only on the spindle, then give a whack.

Don't hit the ball joint dude..You have to hit the round part on the spindle..

wipe off as much of the grease/blaster as you can, they give the area a good spray with brake parts cleaner, this will clean most all the grease left off of it.. be sure to let the parts cleaner evaporate( a minute or two) before putting the torch to it..
i will try this first thing in the morning. Its getting cold n dark here. Thank you all, i will tell you guys hows it tommorrow

"Bah.. slide a small piece of steel plate between the axle and the nut on the top of the ball joint before you remove the nut. then just unscrew the nut and let it press the metal plate against the axle. eventually it will pop the ball joint out and it won't require removal of the axle or damage any parts. easy stuff."

When I was getting my ball joint off I tried using the pickle fork and hitting it with a normal nailing hammer... nothing happened. I gave up after a while and the next day tried hitting the pickle fork with a 2 pound sledge hammer and the ball joint popped right off.
LCR in earlier post should read LCA...typo, sorry.
Well i spent 12 hrs all day, i got the ball joint to pop out by letting the b/j nut sqeeze on the axle and then POP the b/j came out. i changed out the control arm bushings too. Thanks Everyone
