Ball Joint... Stuck

well all this morning i have been trying to replace my passenger side ball joint. It does not seem to come apart at all. I have removed the control arm and all is left is the ball joint hanging there. I wacked it with the hammer and it still wont move at all. I have tired the ball joint U tool and it oozed all the greece out now....
The question is, how do i remove the ball joint? or i should just go n let someone do it?

They make a gear puller type tool to seperate them but all you should have to do is loosen the crown bolt, give it a good whack with a hammer and it should seperate.

i would have left the LCA on. it makes breaking the joint easer since the spindle wont move.

give the spindle a good rap with a hammer.

Which part are you "whacking" with a hammer? The ball joint, or the round part it fits into?

Don't hit the ball joint dude..You have to hit the round part on the spindle..

Borrow a larger hammer from someone..Or eat a bowl of wheaties and whack the shiet out of it with the hammer you have, multiple times..

If you have access to a propane torch, try heating up the round part only on the spindle, then give a whack.

wipe off as much of the grease/blaster as you can, they give the area a good spray with brake parts cleaner, this will clean most all the grease left off of it.. be sure to let the parts cleaner evaporate( a minute or two) before putting the torch to it..

From one of Matts old post's back in '05

"Bah.. slide a small piece of steel plate between the axle and the nut on the top of the ball joint before you remove the nut. then just unscrew the nut and let it press the metal plate against the axle. eventually it will pop the ball joint out and it won't require removal of the axle or damage any parts. easy stuff."

When I was getting my ball joint off I tried using the pickle fork and hitting it with a normal nailing hammer... nothing happened. I gave up after a while and the next day tried hitting the pickle fork with a 2 pound sledge hammer and the ball joint popped right off.

I have never tried this method but in theory it sounds like it should work, you will need a pretty stiff piece of metal.

LCR in earlier post should read LCA...typo, sorry.
