Dyno'd My car this weekend....

well, for a 10 year old, 156,000 mile motor, I must say that I am impressed...

168 fwhp, 177 fwtq... I will scan and post the chart soon. but I thought that was pretty impressive, considering only an exhaust, cai and advanced timing...

I don't even have the Ypipe...

Can't wait for the Ypipe...

Re: Dyno'd My car this weekend....

If your an auto you should be stoked. Most automagic VQ's don't get those numbers without a Y pipe. With a Y pipe you'd be in the 173-176fwhp/180-188fwtq range. If you added the UDP it would free up some more torque also.

Yup, it's an automagic...

I can't wait for that blasted ypipe now! and I was so stoked about the fact that even with that many miles it still puts out!

Geez dude no wonder you're running 15.7's! Arent most VE auto's putting down like 150 hp? That'd be great HP numbers even if the car was brand new!

Actually the more miles the engine has the more power it *should* have. [mag racer]C&D usually always gets faster acceleration times after the 40k mile long term test than with 1k on the odo[/mag racer]. Basically the engine is as strong as its compression and leakdown values.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers! I'm gonig to try to get mine dyno'd in the next week or so while I'm out of school, just for a baseline before I do my next mod to it.

yeah, my car has been running particularly strong lately, (cold weather and that CAI= love!) about the more miles, the better? I think that once the engine break in period, it usually stays around the same, it's not like Miles on the car is a performance adder...

I want more power though...

hee hee... maybe my engine is a ringer from Nissan? I love it, I finally know that those blasted bolt on's are doing something and it's not all in my mind!

LOL! "The Bionic VG" I just got this mental image of his car launching at the track while hearing that funky noise the bionic man makes everytime he does something "bionic".

Madmax, try a search or maybe Craig's page.

Mike had some kind of serious hookup that he wasn't able to share... $10! I seriously need to dyno my car, BTW Mike did run even with me in a race the other night, but I think thats mostly cuz I punched it waaaay too early in first and got what most people would get. Tiresmoke!!! (actually wheel hop but....). His car is freaking strong but it seriously needs a VB. If he got that he may just get into the 14's.

As far as him running even with me I dunno. I figure I got at least 210 HP to the wheel, so even though I messed up my launch, I shoulda caught him and pulled him. It was about 35 degrees so maybe the cold was giving him a bigger advantage etc tire wise (autos don't hit as hard, and with all the hot air from the turbo...) It seems like somedays my car pulls real good and other days not. All I know is that I could never go back. I thought my car was strong before but I drove Jeff's car with POP/Y/RT/catback and it was just gutless. I guess power is addictive and the fix that did it for me before isn't doing it anymore. I am actually worried that the 300HP the Z will offer me won't be any good, because the 300HP a VR-4 had only felt a wee bit stronger than my car. I worry that Pull(hp)= 240 HP/3200 lb ~ 290HP/3800lb. At least I'll get more people wanting to race me. D*mn maxima can't get anyone to race.......

Keep up the good work, I honestly think us VE's can put dowm more hp over a similarly moded 95-99 VQ auto or 5spd.

dude, I still have to get the Ypipe!, Then... ECU, then... Underdrive pulleys!!! WHHEE!!!! I will get to 200 na. at least I would love too!!! I guess 180 to 190 na would be fine though... then... happy gas!!!

woo hoo!!!! I am going for 14's this next season, so yeah, the VB mod is soon in the coming as well...

order of coming mods...

ypipe
tranny cooler/oil cooler
vb mod
underdrive pulleys
Zex Nos kit for dummies...

woohoo!!! 14's here I come!!! I would like to hit 14's n/a then go for broke with the nos... so... with the ypipe, I could get about around 10whp, and about 10wtq... with the vb mod, I could get about a .2 sec off the quarter right there. underdrives should free up around 5% hp, or around 5hp? then... I will have a skinny *** girl drive it...hahahah...

I need a massive weight reduction to get the 14's N/A but I think that I could do it... with those mods...

What's a vb mod?
" The Valvebody (VB) recalibration is a mod for your auto transmission that will give you quicker, firmer shifts (which eliminates the weak point in the auto tranny: switching between gears). Normally, the auto transmission is calibrated to give you nice, slow shifts so as to ephasize luxury over performance. With a recalibrated VB, your shifts will be quicker and harder thus giving you faster times on the track. In addition to the performance advantages, a recalibrated VB will exert less wear on the transmission. Slow shifts will put more wear on the transmission components. A recalibrated VB may allow your transmission to actually last longer. However, the recalibrated VB does require the use of a transmission cooler. This is because the faster, harder shifts will heat up the transmission fluid quicker. The VB mod is said to eliminate up to .4 seconds in the quarter mile. Check out Level 10 or MobileTek Racing for more information. "

Valve Body...it's in your transmission...nissan autos shift slow....with the mod you get faster and much firmer shifts.

VB = valvebody. That was the piece I was missing. The import equivalent to an American musclecar's Shift Kit. Carry on.

Well if he's being completely accurate in his description of his car, he has a VG. (10 years from 2001=1991=VG)
