Battery area rust

I just wanted to get some ideas on what you guys would do with rust like this. I've never done any type of paint work, but luckily this is under the battery tray so the fix doesn't have to be pretty. Is this something I could sand off and paint over or should I take it to a bodyshop? The battery tray is totally rusted over, I'm ordering a new one.

wire brush, sand, clean w/ spray, primer, paint to match, lots of coats and be thorough. it's not a big deal.
