Hello all, well i received white face gauges that i bought from ebay (link below) and did the mod yesterday. While adding on the gauge to the RPM gauge i broke off the little prong the needle rests on when the car is off. Well that's the 1st thing. I got all the gauges on and turned on the car to make sure the RPM was working and it wasn't. so i moved around the needle and suddenly it started working (Kinda). The needle moves very slow and roughly. when i turn off the car the needle gets stuck where it was. The MPH needle works fine no issues there. Now i also noticed the needle for the temp isn't working. i noticed that on my way to work this morning. I know it was working before i put these in. Now i wonder if the Gas needle is stuck where it is as well. Well my question to you is, if i buy a new needle set will they work again. I was thinking of buying these IntelliGlow Needle Kits ( http://importintelligence.com/FMPro?-DB=cart.fp3&-Format=Iglow.html&-Token=12585133&-RecID=12585133&CustID=Iglow&-Error=index.html&-Edit ) . Or do you think i damaged something more. Do any of you have any experience with this or have any suggestions. they will be VERY WELCOME.

Thanks

Buy an SE gauge set and throw some LEDs in there and problem solved. You won't spend more than $50 for the whole thing....

I second that...

Sorry about the gauge issues. That sucks!

but a SE gauge has a max speed of 145 where as my car has a max speed of 125 . I have a GXE and the speed will be off. The problem is not with the gauges but with the needles. I have all working except for the rpm. It works but not well. Is there a way to change the whole needle setting like The motor or whatever makes the rpm needle move.

Thanks

I haven't actually done the se gauge mod but from my understanding the speed reads correctly when the SE gauges are used in a GXE. Lots of people on the org have done this mod and I've never heard complaints about the speed being off.

Doesnt sound like you've knocked it out of sync, and the fact that youre having more than one needle playing up would indicate that its not the needles of the modules, its either the connections, or the backboard that all the modules and faces screw into.

Try taking them all over to another one and see what happens.
As for the bit that holds up the tacho, just super-glue something back in there, it doesnt need anything super strong to hold it.

She's a GXE. The swap to an SE works fine. The car is smart enough to recognize the difference and adjust accordingly. Your speedo won't be off.

These gauges from ProCarParts are the BEST on the market and are offered at a great price. I would use these, to anyone else who wants to do this project. Very good quality, just be sure to follow my write-up when installing. They have a very cool blue/red scheme that looks much better than the OEM SE gauges.

Keep in mind if you do this swap (and you go with the 145mph face plate) your speedo will be off. Follow the write up for this procedure, but with the correct faces that you're looking for (125mph that is)

Thought that was obvious... they sell both SE and GXE speedo styles.

I agree it should be... but it's not always to everyone... just CYA so no one can come back and say well "you told me this would work... now it's off..."

The needles are probably pushed in too far resting on the face thats why they arent moving right. Try pulling them back a little.
