Revolution sensor error

I'm getting the code for a revolution sensor problem when I do the self check diagnostic. I checked the sensor and the resistance was within spec (it was 592 ohms, spec is between 500 and 650). Could the revolution sensor be bad even if the resistance is fine or do I need to start checking harness wires for continuity?

do you have a multimeter with a long enough wire to test the continuity of the wire FROM the sensor TO the TCM?

Unplug the TCM's big harness and clean it with electrical cleaner....sometimes its dirty and signal isnt getting through....plus clean the TCM pins as well and while u r there u might wanna do the same thing to ECM....

kk. basically you're checking for a potential broken wire in the harness... which if there is, i would just cut that individual wire about 4" down from the plug, make sure it had continuity for those 4 inches on each end (sensor side and tcm side) then just use 2 wire splice and run a long wire from the TCM harness wire, under the carpet, behind the kick panel, around the front of the door by the hinges, thru the fender, and up into the engine bay to the sensor.

i might have a friend with a multi-meter that has long leads but it has to wait untill i get a day off work. also it seems to come and go so it sounds like a bad wire

does anyone know if these sensors are supposed to be checked hot or cold? I can't find anything that specifies in the FSM. I checked my sensor a couple more times and it reads out of spec when hot and in spec when cold.

the revolution sensor should ALWAYS read in spec whether hot or cold.
