Hey Bill, based on your research on synthetic oils (I did read the stickies at the top..) how often would you reccomend changing my oil if I'm using completely synthetic oil? I have Penzzoil Synthetic in there right now, and it's coming up on 4,500 miles, wonderin when I should change..

Well the best thing to do is get it analyized by Blackstone labs. See if it's being stressed or not and then go from there. Either way, keep changing the oil filter at XXXX miles though. 4k-5k is what I do.
Also you have to be kinda careful. Synthetics like Amsoil formulate their oil for extended drain intervals while some others do not. But synthetics in general should last 5k easy.
Once you know the your engine treats the oil, you can extend the oil changes based on that info and only get you oil analyized every once in a while.

About $19.
But it has good info about other stuff. Good to do at least once just to see that the engine is doing.

Thanks, how much does it cost to send your oil to Blackstone? If it's too expensive I'm just gonna err on the side of caution and change it every 5k.
