Brake light switch question

I walked outside to see all my brakelights lit up. Opened the door to see these green plastic pieces on the floor of the car; fuse was removed to prevent my battery draining. I'm going to guess my brake light switch broke? Where is it, and where can I buy one to replace it? Thanks.

Was too lazy to make a thread Think I can grab one locally for cheap from an autoparts store, or is it a Nissan stealership special?

Not sure if you can find it at the local parts stores, as they don't break that often on these cars..

check out autozone/advanced auto's websites for availability/pricing..

also (as nc90gxe experienced) sometimes the green rubber button-pusher thing can crumble and fall out, and if it does, the brakelights will stay on.

This is what happened; switch was fine. My dad made a makeshift button-pusher in place of the rubber one that broke. My problem is fixed now, thanks.

Brake Light Switch

I had this same exact thing happen. Went to start the car, and the battery was dead. Found broken plastic pieces on the floor mat on driver side. There is a bracket that has a hole in it, right in front of the brake switch. There is a little plastic clip that goes into that hole. The switch touches this clip when the brake pedal is not pressed, and keeps the brake lights off. Once that plastic clip breaks and falls out, the brake switch now has nothing to touch, so it goes into the hole. Now the brake lights come on, and the battery will eventually die. Why would they have designed this? Why not just make the bracket solid? I too jammed another piece of plastic into the hole to fix the problem.
