What kind of mileage do you get?
list your engine and transmission and anything you think that has contributed to improving it. Highway and city. stock wheels or aftermarket/etc.
i jus rebuilt the top end( bottom end was rebuilt recently while i was in skol i rebuilt the top end cuz didnt do much on it that time and it was like 8 months ago), fixed some electrical problems, new fresh gaskets for every part (DUH), new hoses for everything( from vaccum to radiator ), and specially cleaned every electrical harness with electrical cleaner (alot of dirt came out) ,changed almost every sensor to BRAND NEW with all 6 coils and injectors (i forgot to change temp sendor sensor
)...changed all fluids(tranny, engine, brakes, coolingsystem, power steering), brand new bearings....painted the valve covers and intake collector
.....hmm...changed fuel lines, changed T-STAT to 170F fail safe, changed CAI filter, 255lph walbro fuel pump (i know didnt need it but never know in future so i m set and it doesnt hurt either)....basically its like a brand new car now lol...oh its VE
i worked on it for 3 days straight for 10 hours everyday ( i m a newbie yet )....i test drove it today and MAN i will say it paid me bak...so much low end torque and top end is nasty...and its giving me 50% better gas mileage than before (if my foot dont gain 10 pounds)...anyways i will post it again with recorded gas mileage as i m recording it ritenow everyday...and will post pics....
oh and ya i removed my 85 pounds sub box and that helped alot
( i can live without BASS but not money lol)
for wheels i got 300zx rims with 225/50/16 with white rim's paint and with Michelin pilot sports tires...25mm hubcentric spacers on rear but i m gonna reduce that to 15mm soon...they help alot on launch

put 20 liters of gas then record the kilometers...for example if it does 150km in 20 liters then take 150km and divide it with 20 u get 7.5kms which means u get 7.5kms in 1 liter then take 100km and divide it with 7.5 and u get 13 which is 13 liters and ur car does 100kms in 13 liters...jus change the numbers if u wanna use different numbers but same formula...simple

My all-time high mileage worked out to 30.8 mpg on the highway. That was on Michigan gasoline with no ethanol though. The crappy Texas 10% ethanol blend is even crappier in Houston because they add in even more emissions-reducing additives - not sure what all it is...
I haven't calculated my mileage lately for the Maxima, it pretty much just gets used for commuting these days, but my Corvette gets like 16-18 around town, 25-26 when it's all highway.
Maxima mileage-increasing mods: CAI, Y-pipe, M/T (it's a mod on my car!), I am also running 2K3 17" wheels - a bit heavier and wider than stock, so more rolling resistance. Who knows, my Blehmco grounding kit may help a little bit too.

Since I've put one of the VE's back to stock (well aside from cone filter) I get a consistent just under 25 MPG combined city and highway. That's even with a miss and low compression in one cylinder. And I actually calculate it properly at the exact same pump at the exact same station every time, etc. (most people surprisingly incredibly **** up/skew their MPG calculations). It's funny I get better mileage than my mom's Elantra
Just started keeping this log a few months back:

I have a 92 VE 5 speed. I get ~26 mpg. The driving I do is mixed, but I would say 75% highway. I have aarons spacers, a cai, warpspeed y pipe, stock wheels. One of my rear calipers has been sticking lately so maybe it will go up a little once I replace that.

My friend is rolling the idea around and I couldn't remember what I got. I thought I was getting 32mpg on the highway with the mods (and stock wheels) but couldn't remember. I remember with the flywheel and then with the y-pipe it got pretty decent mileage.
Wait... Mr. Gone is back on this site? I thought he was..., well, Gone.
Anyways, I now get 23 mpg mixed (highway > city) . This is a stock Autotragic 91 SE with 2 spares tires (1 donut, 1 stock, don't ask ) in the trunk and the front windows always down.

Do it! You probably did get 32 mpg all highway especially with the flywheel and all that. I used to date a girl who was going to school in Arkansas (all highway from Dallas up I-30) and I was able to make that round trip on one tank (something like 460 some odd miles), and was right at 30 mpg and before I had the flywheel and whatnot.
I've got a 93 GXE auto no mods, I get around 22 mpg with 50/50 mixed highway and city driving. I used to get 25 to 30 but had it drop to 18 when I moved to Indiana. I had a rear caliper dragging, fixing that brought it back up a bit but I think I may need to replace the O2 sensor.

but back when i first installed my CAI i definitely noticed a difference driving on the highway. so nice.
2$ a liter?!?! where the heck do you live. it's 1.02$/L here in BC. i think i think i get close to 700 km/tank a gas, but right now my exhaust is snapped in half right @ the flex section which is mos def screwing with o2 readings soo... yea.

actually I did do maintenance on them. ve1 had 5 brand new injectors, ve4 had 3 brand new ones + udp + ypipe + front struts+ filter + belts + plugs and it got 17 (50/50 hwy/city) mix.
Causes: broken manifold studs, off alignment, a tire that's off balance, undersized (205/55r16) tires (all on the list of things to fix). 240k miles.
edit: also, mobil1 full synthetic, high mileage oil changes. seems to have bumped it up enough to justify $40-50 every 3k, at current gas prices.

my 91 se 5 m\t sohc vg30,the odometer only counts miles sometimes
(havent noticed any patterns but its been this way the last like 3 years)
i est. 23mpg some freeway,pizza delivery,high rev 1\3 of the time
my 92 se 4 a\t dohc ve 30,2007'?maxima 17" wheels(heavy with big tires)
236k on the car like 1-150k on the motor
i est. 19mpg some freeway,pizza delivery,a\t in power mode o\d on mostly...
my 93 nissan pickup 5 m\t sohc vg30,dont drive much (need to remember
to take tailgate off for non hauling for less wind resistance)
this trucks geared for towing ,since i swapped in pathfinder gauges
w\ a tach finally i see its like 3500rpm in 5th at 60-65 mph cruising
i est. 18 mpg but not sure it also seems to have a big reserve in tank
i dont know how some of you think 25-30 mpg?,maybe because im in
WA.state and ethanol is 10-15%? but ive driven 3rd gen maxima for the
last 8-9 years and always thought i got just over 20
but ive never really tried to know,i never fill up all the way and i think
our gas gauges act differently for each 1\4 tank notch
i even think my 91 vs 92 gas gauges act\measure differently idk
i also recently "lined up" my miles and trip meters by reseting the trip meter
when the mile meter turned on all 3 rides for example reset trip@222000
so 222.2 miles later it was miles=[222222]trip=[222.2] now i want to leave them like that .i used to reset the trip meter upon test drive and never touch it agian ....ibwierd
maximagician:
here is how i calculate my mpg:
fill up (all the way). drive, until tank is near empty. fill (again, all the way). note the number of gallons pumped. compare to odometer difference (since mine is off due to the small tires, I use my gps's calculated miles), m/g=f (where m=miles traveled, g = gallons, and f = fuel consumption rate).
I do typically use 100% gas where I can. Driving habits also are a big part of the "mod list," as I typically don't "gun" it every chance I get (I do it getting on the freeway, and only on occasion do I do it elsewhere)

26 mpg
94 VG Auto, K&N box air filter, WSP Y-Pipe
90% Hwy, 26.5 mpg
I drove my car back and forth to college 42 miles each way. It was a straight shot driving on I-35.
I just cleaned out my air filter, MAF, throttle body and IACV, replaced the gaskets. Seems to have fixed the jumpy idle and increased throttle response. Maybe the mpg went up too?

you got me beat...
my high was 28.8mpg 95% highway
my low was/is/will be (drive 1.5miles to work city
) 12.3mpg
ve auto, fully tune up, most sensors are new or have been replcaed in last couple years, full warpspeed exhaust, cai, asp pulley....lots of work i don't even want to list it.
I haven't had the chance to do a full highway trip on 1 tank since ive done alot of work to it, id say it would probably get 30mpg all highway. and if I drove 5-10miles each time i drove it in the city instead of 1-2, it would probably be around 16-18mpg. oh well, i like my short trip to work, sleep in longer

92VE Auto
i calculated and i m getting 18 miles CITY (included punching all the way to floor several times with 225/50/16 with sports summer tires, CAI and aftermarket muffler) probably highway would around 27-28Miles(could be more)...and gentle driving in city would be probably 20-21 miles...

How many gallons of gas can an unmodified 94 maxima gas tank hold?
And is the fuel indicator accurate such as when it says half of tank of gas is in there ... is there really half a tank or more or less than??
Im asking this because on some abc show it says american cars can get up to 40 miles when the needle is on E and the low fuel indicator is on.....

A stock maxima can get around between 350 to 400miles/560 to 650km.
i pulled 30 MPG on a 100% highway trip - VE 5spd with your typical bolt ons, minor exhaust flange leak behind the cat, periodic ignition coil bucking/hiccuping, and lazy fuel injector (what i think was leaking fuel when car was shut off). Around town with my usual school/work commutes id get upper teens-low 20s
