this started yesterday.
on the way home i was sitting in traffic a/c on.
then the idle start going up @ 1k.
then the temp gauge went near hot.
i turned the a/c off, heat on.
and as sonn as i started moving the gauge went down to normal.
then i turned everything back on it was fine.

i even left her running with the a/c on no problems.

today this morning no overheating but the idle stated going all over the place and the compressor would engage/disengage rapidly.

even when i was driving on the highway.

then was fine.

up till 20 minutes ago in traffic again and she started overheating.
even with the a/c off.
got home let the car run. as soon as teh fans come on it shoots up and the reservior starts to raise.
it also had alot of bubbles.

coolant level was fine this morning.

any advice please?

 

Check your Coolant Temp Sensor. Its located right on your thermostat housing.
Unplug it and see if the fans come on all the time when you start the car. Does it overheat with it unplugged?
Might have some air trapped in the system. Which is an easy fix...

 

Change your thermostat.

 

I accually have the same problem.... usually when im in traffic or in a fast food line on a warm day it will start to over heat sometime it will sit at the hot line for a few seconds then just fall back down to normal or if im in traffic once i start moving it will fall back down...... ive replaced fluid numerous times and i also just replaced my thermostat.... the only thing i can think of for my reasoning is that the fluid i have even tho i put it in green it turns orange and chunky..... i think it clogs up my lines and makes it run hot sometimes.... thats also whey i think i have no heat because my heatercore lines are full of gunk.... the only thing is like i said ive changed fluid a few times and it keeps coming back....

 

Flush your cooling system with machine twice....

well she was'nt overheating due to air pockets or t-stat.
turns out the alternator had some connecting issues.

it was all connected:
the idle would go up.
the compressor would click on/off rapidly.
everytime there was a extra load added on the temp gauge would go up.

with this issue the fans would rarely come on...and when they did it was when the ecu "seen" the volts was within specs.

but now another problem...i seem to be losing anti-freeze like crazy.
looks like its coming from behind the crank pully.
but not out of it and i can't find the leak for nothing! anyone here shed some light?
