Will 1995-1999 Bose/Clarion HU work with 92-94 Bose system?

I'm buying a 92-94 Maxima SE (standard Bose I believe on 92-93 models), but they all seem to have tape decks. 92-94 bose/clarion CD/Tape unit's are harder to come by so I am wondering if 95-99 units are plug and play?

You would do better to just do aftermarket in general, the bose stuff sucks.

Wells it's the least costly alternative because they are only $100-$200 online. I actually like the OEM sound from Bose...

I agree with Loe max... as long as all your Bose components are in good shape (especially the amps) it does sound good. I have 91 GXE with a 99 HU and it sounds great. All you need is an adapter harness to plug into your new HU and it's that simple. I forgot where I got mine but I'll try to look it up.

wow excellent because I like the look of the 99 HU's better than the 95-96 and 97-98 HU's

if he doesn't find a source ( I think ebay has them), you may hit up the 4th gen classifieds. find somebody parting out, ask them to cut the factory bose harness off. then, go get a radio wiring harness for a 3rd gen, and splice them together. I don't think there are too many dissimilarities, aside from pinout.

Thanks Ben, I was thinking of doing that as well. It shouldn't be too hard to match up the wires as long as I follow the wiring diagram thats stickered on each HU.

I ran a 97 Bose HU in my 94. I bought an adaptor wiring harness from installer.com. You get a 97 radio adaptor harness, a 94 harness adaptor and if you want, you buy a "join" option where they solder the other two together. I got the join option and it was well worth the $7.50, very professional.

If you are looking to do this right away go to best buy and get a harness for a 97 and a harness for a 94. you can soder or get butt conectors and have the radio working that day. I have a 98 HU in my 93 with the cd changer option and went on ebay to get a usa-spec changer that plugs right into the system.
