Rear Strut removal??

I was wondering if someone did a rear strut removal write-up/ How to Tutorial? The haynes manual makes it seem difficult, the only part that i am unsure of is the bottom strut disassembling procedure. I pretty much got the top part down packed. What size wrenches are used and so fourth. I was thinking about taking it to a shop, but they want like 150-200 bucks minus parts, and thats money I can fix something else with lol! It would be a great for me to do it myself and up my mechanical skills a little more, I plan to bring a helper for the job also, to help evenly compress the spring or take the strut to a shop and let them compress the spring after i remove it. Please help!

Once you get the spring off put the strut/spindle in a vice, then take a large pair of channel locks or big wrench if you have one that big and take the top nut off of the cartridge. A little penetrating oil may help the whole process, but if you have no problem getting the strut assembly off of the car and taking the spring off then it is pretty straight forward after that.

that is because it is more difficult than a standard strut or shock replacement.
replacing the rear struts requires disassembly or the rear strut assembly.

buy the struts/springs and take it to shop...it will make things alot easier for u plus u will still be under warranty from the shop(if they give u)..leave the major mechanical work to the pro...i see parts baskets everyday or the unfinished cars towed to the shop...if u still wanna do it ur self then get the FSM....ntn is better than that....
