VB Mod Question

Okay guys, I have yet to get a straight answer from anyone and the search engine did no good.

DOES THE DON VB MOD WORK WITH THE VE AUTO TRANNY?

I really want one but I want to know that it's gonna work first.

Yes, Actually the VE auto trans is the same as the VQ auto trans. Now I will get flamed by the non beleivers but the #'s are the same.

Yup, same tranny's. I took my VB out today. Lemme tell you that wasnt fun, especially when it's freezing outside and you cant move/feel your hands. I'm sending it in on Dec.4th, next Tuesday, I'll have it back on Wednesday, and should have it all put back together by next Friday. Woohoo!

What isnt normal? The down-time?? If you send him your VB overnight, he'll do it, and send it back out that same day, and you'll have it the day after. Meaning 3 days downtime. All those stories you hear about people waiting months didnt send in their cores, and therefore had to wait for Don to come up with a core. So, send him yours overnight, and you're only out 3 days.

Hey James. Did you ever G-Tech Pro your car before the VB mod? I would really like to find out what kind of 1/4 mile time decrease you can expect from the VB mod.

You are all crazy! I wish I had the money to be blowing right now. Good luck boys, I am going the easy way to 14's as soon as I can. 5 speed conversion for $2200. I know you guys will get into the 14's though, no doubt. I just have to bang gears that is my prob.

Man, you're talking about 14's. That's crazy for a VE Auto. What kind of mods do you have Dirksmoothe? I have a 92 SE Auto w/ intake, Y, and UDP; and I should be running high 15's. But, since I am racing at Vegas Drag Strip, I am probably going to run a 16.10, this Saturday (12/1). Oh yeah, BTW, I am edging out V6 Accords now. What kind of times do you run and what mods do you have?

Are you for real, what about me? If you are the guy in front of your car as your sig pic, I have persoanlly tried to answered all your questions dealing with the VB mod and VE trannies. I've exhausted all possible "bolt on" mods for the VE and I still have a couple more up my sleeve, more intake modding. Just like yourself I'm trying to stay N/A, but I have a sealed blue package bottle in my closet just incase things get boring running N/A. Once I've completed my other intake modding, I'll hit the dyno one more time.

Okey Dokey... I ran a 15.7 already, and that was before my CAI, Hi flow cat, and the Ypipe that I will be getting tomorrow hopefully...

I have CAI, hi flo cat, and Greddy SP exhaust, that's it. and I am already down to 15.7... I hit 168FWHP and 178 FWTQ at the dyno 2 weeks ago...

Okay, so, we have Candiman, Aaron, and James, and I...

First to hit 14's baby!!! let's go... oh, and Aaron, go to another track closer to the ground...!

yeah, I am serious you can have it at that point. I dont know if it will work since you have a VG. But I will have no use for it. I will sell the whole trans at that point. Wont be for atleast 6 months though. You have first dibs!

Yeah, I think that is my most serious problem. Just to see that you're already running in he 15's, makes me happy that the VE Auto's do have a chance of being in the 14's. I gotta race my car at sea level in the winter time, to see what it can do. Later!

No doubt. Come Christmas time here's what I'll have:

WSP CAI - installed
WSP S/S Y-pipe - installed
Carsound Cat - installed
Greddy Catback - will be installed within 2 weeks
ASP UDP - dido
VB Mod - dido

Come early spring, it's time for Protorque TC, and maybe ECU. Plus, I have full suspension, which also helps at the track. Also in the spring, I'll be looking into getting some headwork. There's no doubt I'll be running 14's N/A. I'm just curious to see if I can get it with the usual bolt-ons, and the tranny work. CandiMan's right up there too with the VE auto!

Aaron, I didnt get a chance to do the G-tech pro. My brother actually bought one yesterday. I was working franticaly all day to get the VB out, and trying to dodge the terrible weather. I'm sending in my VB on Monday, and today I had my wisom teeth pulled (which is why I had to get the VB out of there earlier than expected, since I cant/wont be doing any "work" for a week or so). So, I didnt get a chance to do it. However, we'll see what kinda track times I'll be doing.

That's okay. I just found out how much the UDP helps. On the overall 1/4 mile, it's not that big of a difference. But, my 60' time went from 2.531 to 2.456. That's a slightly noticable difference in low end power. But, I think I lost high end power b/c my trap speeds were lower. hmmm....any ideas? Check the 1/4 mile thread to see what I ran.

Well, I got my full suspension done as well, and I have the Greddy sp, catco, and pr cai already installed, the ypipe will be installed in ummm.... 2 hours, and the vb mod will be here before the end of the off season...

should be interesting considering I hit my 15.7 with out the CAI or Cat... hee hee.... We will have to see... I really want this to be a challenge to all that think that they could do it...

Cause the challenge makes me wanna go faster!!! okey dokey...

I will race you Dirksmooth. We have to be next to each other. Since, we are comparing 1/4 mile times from all over the US, it's not an accurate comparison. Do you know the exact elevation of the Seattle Drag Strip? Starting line elevation and finish line elevation? Sometimes they are different. How cold was it when you ran your best time? And what exactly did you do to your car? I only take out my spare tire, do a torque brake launch, and manual shift at redline. Please tell me what you do cause I wanna learn. Thanks.

On the day of my best run... and I am not kiddin'... I had a full interior, half a tank of gas, and my spare was in... I torque break to 1200, launch at the last green, and manually shift at 6200 rpm...

my dyno sheet shows that my peak hp is at about 4800 to 4950 rpm so much more then that is not really that smart... so I will be shifting sooner this next year to try to get my revs to stay in that sweet spot a bit better...

that is it...

That's awesome. You'll be amazed what the Y-pipe can do for you. And those rims are about 5 lbs lighter than the rims you already had. With those two mods, I estimate you to run a 15.3-15.4 when the season starts up again.
