HID's with a projector retro fit ! I tried just regular Bi-xenon Hids on the Maximas stock housings and even I cant stand them ! Took them off and will be retro-ing BMW E-36 Headlights in place of the maxima lights !

what do you mean "kit"? even the stock housings blind with stock bulbs, any HID will likely cause someone you drive past to die when they can't see the road and end up in a ditch or tree. just get a bixenon projector set from a FX35 or something and put that in an ebay clear headlight.

yea they blind everyone and light output is terrible as well. Everyone on the forum had told me about it and i put them in to see how bad in my gargage and the stock headlgihts just scatter the light around real bad. They really are just ****ty head lights all around

Thats like a nice idea, and by "kit" or was just separating the two...

i'd go with the Hi/Lows
the Bi-Xenons have moving parts so its another thing to go wrong
but i hardly use high beams anyway

no, the e36 headlights are not made for HIDs. you can remove the lowbeam from an e36 and put a HID-spec (TL, Lexus LS/IS, BMW E60, Infiniti FX35, etc) projector in its place. technically the stock e36 projector will work with HID, but the output will be very narrow and center-focused compared to a real HID projector like those i mentioned which will have a smooth, wide beam.

to clarify:

e36 headilght

e36 lowbeam output w/ H1 halogen bulb. notice how it's not that wide and most of the light is at the center of the cutoff line?

now compare that to the smooth wide output of a HID-spec Lexus LS430 projector

And one more thing, i know this isn't the place to ask this, but i need to know asap. Does anyone know how to disconnect the little bell that goes off when you open the door or take out your keys? mine keeps on going even when the car is off and doors are closed, it even drained my brand new battery.

i know. lol trust me i know. but especially for those that have little knowledge about it, it's good for them not to get the wrong info right off the bat.

general rule of thumb for 3rd gens:
if you want a single light source get a bixenon projector abd put it in an ebay euro-style maxima housing. never ever put HIDs the euro-style housing as-is tho.

if you want side-by-side high/low get an E36 DEPO projector and either run it as-is or swap for a better HID-spec projector.

if you trust the seller you can get them on ebay. prices vary of course.. but you get what you pay for, ie the more you pay the better you can see at no cost to other drivers' eyes.

pull the cluster out of the dash and it's the dull metal box attached to the outside of the back of the cluster. i think it's got 2 yellow wires that provide its power.

Aright, thanks man. Do you have any links to how to pull the cluster out?
Or is it just those screws at the bottom?
