pwned o2 sensor..

My good ol' pal dropped by earlier to show me the good news on the VE I sold to him..

I can't really imagine how that coulda happened, but would it be possible to weld that back in? What are his options? Also, does that pipe have a name? Thanks guys.

its the y-pipe, you can possibly cut that part out and weld in a new one. But it looks like you need a new flex section too. So might as well get a new Y-Pipe from warp speed.

You could weld it, is it worth it? Probably not by looking at the flex pipe. Just go to a exhaust shop to get that section replaced.

Isn't it part of the y pipe?

Just get a new y-pipe and all will be good. It costs more, but worth it in the long run.

To have a chunk welded in would probably be about $100 at a shop and the flex piece is going to go next.

Remember the kid just spent a bunch on replacing the clutch and tranny so throwing in a new y-pipe might be a bit much at this point...so I say weld the damn thing back in until he can pay all that money for a new pipe plus the cost of installation. Poor kid.

That deserves a Warpspeed Y-pipe as a replacement...$200, IIRC.

I bought a 90SE for $200.00 and the same week my brother bought 92GXE for $150 both in impressive condition. I just bought a y-pipe off the .org for $30 also in impressive condition. $200 for a y-pipe is not a good deal.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll make sure he sees this thread. Can anyone recommend a good place to get the warpspeed y-pipes? I doubt hes gonna get it, but who knows, maybe he might.

He needed a new axle as well which was damaged during the tranny incident. The spindles somehow flew apart

I think I should play the lotto because a guy I work with offered to sell me the one parked up at his house for the same kinda money. Anyway check out the ANSA front pipe (y-pipe, same thing) at autopartswarehouse for $168.72 shipped. Looks equal length too.

the ANSA pipe mimics the OE design which has a wicked 180* bend in it. the warpspeed eliminates that bend for better flow.

$200 is the price for a new one from Warp Speed.

Ok, so my friend is deciding between a warpspeed, or just a flex section with that pipe that has the o2 sensor in it..

Does the Warpspeed come with a hole for the o2 sensor?

flex pipe will need the bung installed.
warpspeed includes the bung, as part of the design.

i thought he was implying to use a 2' long flex section to bridge the gap between the front of the old flex and the busted section.

Tnx for putting it back up, I am in the process of changing mine but I need a o2 sensor socket. The one from autozone is too long, I think I will have to unhook part of the exhaust.

You can fix that for about $25....cut out a portion of pipe to cover the hole edges at least 1/2" all the way around (like a doubler) and drill the doubler to fit a O2 bung and have the bung welded to the doubler and the doubler welded to the Ypipe! This should last longer than the rest of the YPIPE!
