Redline Mtl
Anyone with a manual trans try Redline MTL? I believe it is 75-80 wt. I put new beariings in my trans and left the synchros alone. Partly due to $$ and partly do to an untrained eye..they had all teeth and such..I got it back together and put regular hypoid gear oil into it. Lets just say getting 1st and 2nd gear took some finesse. I thought I was going to need new synchros!! A friend told me about Redline MTL. Cost a bit more than reg gear oil, but gear changes are solid now. NO grinding or resistance. A tad more whine from the trans, but it is well worth it. EVERYONE should go get their trans syphoned out and filled with this stuff. Anyone else try it??

I heard MT-90 was recommended for our cars... anyway they're not too different so what the heck.
My (5!!) bottles are sitting in my basement still, and yes, they are pricey! I found it funny the trans needs more oil than the engine. I got it because I have trouble shifting into 1st and reverse sometimes (no grinding, but needs muscle). I'll let everyone know what happens once I change it.

What???
There is a drain plug in the manual trans. It is located on the left side (when facing front of car). It is back near the shift linkage boot and it is similar looking to other bolts in the trans.
I have noticed easier shifting, especially in colder weather. There is a lot less heat build up in the shifter during long trips (less friction).

I've used Redline since two years ago when I had to have my tranny replaced. Since then, I replace the fluid once every year. Everything's working great still. Yes, a little whine, but with the manual tranny problems with these cars, one should expect some whine. Great stuff, hard to find in my area, that's I why I decided to carry it. Royal Purple is supposed to be the slightly cheaper equivelant I believe?

MTL
I have been running MTL for over 2 years now and I think it is worth every penny. Ease of shifting and less whine. It's very apparent if you drive another car on a cold day and then jump in my Max. I put her in my Supra also, too bad the Toyota's tranny isn't as smooth as the Max.
