ABS Sensors

My light came on couple months ago, but never thought about doing the self-diagnosis. Well I did it today and got a code 5 (Front left ABS sensor)

Now I got a couple questions,
1) I want to try and clean it first, would using electrical contact cleaner work and not affect the sensor in a negative way?
2) If that doesn't work how much should I look into paying for a used/new sensor?
3) Front left means driver side right? Just making sure.
4) Can playing around the sensor, and hitting it by accident break it? (Had rear brake lines changed the day before, So I'm thinking when he checked the front he might of hit it or something.)

Thanks guys

the wire running to the sensor may be broken. I broke both front sensors (similar to you describe above), and they were both rusty, and nasty looking (wondered if they had worked before, but the light just hadn't come on for only god knows why...)

dunno about replacement cost. they are expensive, new. probably get a couple at the jy for $10, each?
replacement is easy. track the wire to the engine compartment. disconnect.
they are held in by a single screw (10mm socket, I think). may want to spray with pb blaster/wd-40 to get it to move around. I had to wiggle it back and forth, a bit to break teh rust loose. probably 30 minutes, per wheel.

Alright thanks, this helped me. I'll take the wheel off tomorrow and check it out. I'll probably buy used. Might check them all out since I have my tools out.
