New Type of Single DIN cupholder. Might work on Max.
I was browsing on eBay and came accross this single DIN style cupholder that will probably work for our Maximas. It has the tray on top and two drop out cupholders on the bottom. As soon as I get paid I'm going to buy it and try it out. I'm tired of not having real cupholders!

uhm..... I have these? Ford Taurus cupholders modified a bit and upsold.
SE cupholders are better because the big hole is bigger than the 2 holes than these. I find drinks fit perfectly in the maxima cupholder generally (with tapered bottoms)

i don't drink and drive
seriously, grab a 20oz with a lid, stick it between your legs, and drive.
or get a good travel mug, one of the non-spill kind. anyone know where I can find a good one of those?

3rd gen cupholders fail, theyre too low so if you hit the gas or brakes the cup flies out. happened to me at DQ where my Pepsi flew onto the passenger side floor and i had tidle waves of Pepsi going around

4th gen camry (97-01) was pretty good too... my mom had one and i would always rejoice about having proper cupholders when i took it to the drivethru since we worked at the same place for 8 months
see if the 3rd gen had the ebrake handle off-center then there would be room for cupholders like that, but they put it in the dead-center, which is ghey, and that's why we don't have cupholders. On my Z and my Civic, the ebrake is offset to the right, and on my brother's 6th gen, it's offset to the left.

I believe maxpowr was considering doing a 90 S-bend on the ebrake to put the handle not so off center, not sure if he ever did it or not

I've upgraded my '89 with the cupholder/tray option from a later model third gen, but it doesn't hold drinks worth a damn. It only holds small, short containers like 12 oz. cans and 8 oz. coffee cups - not what I would call a real cupholder. I think I will try to swap in a different console that has an off center ebrake and real cupholders or try to modify this one eventually. Another idea I had was installing a slide out cupholder tray that would fit in the higher armrest from the later model third gen maximas, kind of like some '90s Volvos have.

Yes, I would agree that the e-brake lever and the pass. seat is the best place the wedge a drink. I can wedge anything from coffee mugs to a 64 oz in there. Only a fingertip is required for stability there even on my highest-g maneuvers.
