Spot the Maxima
Spot the Maxima
Just had to post this (sorry for the cell phone pic in the dark, though). Living in Dallas my whole life I've never seen anything like this:

8" of snow and it's still snowing!
Err, dumb snow n00b question here - should I maybe scrape the snow off the roof/hoods of the cars? Or does it matter?

hahaha. Global Warming in the Big D!
that's not enough to really hurt anything. Well, you might want to push it off of your moonroof. It's probably not that good for these old babies.
Please don't try to drive anywhere, though.

take a broom and sweep most of it off and leave a thin coat on there (so you don't scratch the paint, of course).
did you guys get ice, first? or did it go straight to snow? the ice was the biggest ***** about two weeks ago, for me. I left the light on, and killed the battery. had to chip the ice off just to get the hood open, and throw a charger on
We didn't get any ice first it just started straight up snowing huge snow flakes and it snowed ALL DAY. Look at it this morning. My neighbor's tree just about took out my Civic

Some branches from my neighbors tree fell across the hood of my poor little Civic but it looks like it didn't do any damage. I'll have to clear some more away to make sure

That's perfect snowball-snowman snow. it's all heavy and wet and sticks together real well. build a snowman on the trunklid and call it a day.
Enjoy being able to use the excuse that it's too dangerous to drive to work right now because of all the other idiots in Dallas!

Spot the maxima, i see 2 you VE ***** lol ... then i guess i am too
We usually get that level of snowfall (8"+) 2-3 times per winter up here with some little snow shower storms here and there in between

personally i'd clean the roof... when i was in MA last month it snowed overnight and when i hit the brakes allllll of the snow from the hood slid down and blocked my entire windshield. fortunately it was at a stopsign in a parking lot, and not while moving on the street.
I need to sell this black one then I'll bring my "new" one over. I got the cars all cleaned off and the tree thankfully didn't damage either of them. I wasn't really worried about the Maxima but I just dumped $1300 into the Civic a year or so ago on a nice repaint so whew.
(well except for the black interior conversion, and wheels and MPFI swap and whatnot) If it was the teal I would've done a color change, but I actually like the gold
There's another black VE 5 speed stashed at my brother's place

Yep, it's the one in my sig. All the goodies from it are going onto the blue VE (well most are already on it except the Stillen kit), and then my "new" black VE I'm just going to lower the front, and put my 6th gen 5 spoke wheels on it and call it a day.

tailgaiting.... the stop sign? there were no other cars around, i was just making a normal stop at a stop sign to go out for lunch. and considering that there was quite a bit of snow on the ground anyways it's not like i could have even stopped that hard w/o setting off the ABS... the heat from inside the car just happened to have melted the snow that was touching the roof JUST enough for it to slide around. if I'd floored it on clear pavement it probably would have fallen off the back instead. It was a 3.5L MKZ so it easily had more pickup than even a VE5.

Well, I graduated in December and have been looking for a "real" job since November and haven't found anything yet. My job as a graduate student assistant ended when I was no longer a student so I could really use the money as still-cant-find-a-job-yet insurance
Plus, the one in the driveway is mechanically/maintenance wise the nicest, so hopefully I can get a bit more money out of it

Well, but it's a massive amount for Dallas.. which is all I was saying..
I typically clean off my ENTIRE car. snow blowing off the hood gets onto the windshield. Snow from the roof gets on the rear window. snow from the trunk gets on the guy behind you. clean it all off and be safer
