i didnt wire the HU in i got the car like that.. but it seems like that litttle black box is an adapter from the radio wiring harness to the speaker wires. i have bypassed all the bose amps. the only bose speakers in the car are the ones in the front.. so yeah..

that adapter is so u can use the bose speakers/amp with an aftermarket HU. im running the bose speakers/amp with an aftermarket HU too. the adapter sends low level signal to the bose so the speakers can get the signal without the HU sending wattage to them
#7
so now i dont need them since i bypassed all the amps. right?

right. what it does is convert the speaker's powered signal to a signal like the one for the RCA jacks.
(managed to find a place in the hall with enough signal to watch it on my phone...)

That adapter is a line level out converter. It's what you need to run the Bose speakers/amps with an aftermarket head unit. No matter what you do those will ALWAYS sound like crap, even though it's the "right" way to do it.
If you said you bypassed the Bose amps, then why do you still have the line level out converter in the car? If you already bypassed the amps, just remove the converter and wire straight from the head unit to the stock Bose speakers, and it'll probably sound a heckuva lot better than what you've got now (yes, even with the 4x6 Bose speakers or whatever they are and no amp).

Cool, glad to see an update to this. Most people never update/conclude their threads, makes it really annoying if you're searching and find a relevant thread but it has no update
