se cluster help

I just tried to install one in my gxe and ran into problem, the battery light is on, the rpm gauge doesn't work and the transmission is locked(unless I use the red button on the **** (automatic), I tried to reinstall my old one and its the same thing, I really need help as to what happened (headlights still work and so do turn signals)

yea, must just be bad then. there's no difference in the electronics of one cluster vs the next as far as compatibility is concerned. the VE speedo has less degrees-per-mph just b/c it has to fit more MPH into the same sweep but it's fully compatible as well with the VG trannies' speed sensors.

How do you swap out the faces? I'm guessing it requires the removal of the needles?

Are you swapping the 125mph for the 145mph cluster? Just wondering I wanted to see what it would be like to have the white in the day and the black in the night. Even though I like the green color of my GXE at night. Jus wanna try something different.

yea.. that's just a shadow cast by the overhang of the dash btw. i had one of the map lights by the mirror turned on, otherwise it was darkish outside. but that shows what it looks like in the day vs night (except that during the day the numbers will probably be totally black)

no sir, all you have to do is just unscrew them from behind the cluster and they just come out as a whole assembly with the needles. all you have to do is just screw them back into your GXE cluster and your done. i did this to mine like 7-8 years ago.

Is there an instruction on how to remove the cluster from the dashboard? Do you need to remove the steering wheel?

I don't know if there are instructions up somewhere but I've done it before, it's not too hard to do and you definitely don't need to take the steering wheel out.

steering wheel can stay. you have to remove the knee panel, the trim around the radio, the trim around the steering column, the trim that holds the cruise/mirror/defrost buttons, and the big black shroud around the cluster/vents/clock. about 20 screws' worth or so. then after all that's out, just tilt the wheel down, undo the 4 screws holding the cluster into the dash, and pinch the release buttons on both sides of each of the 3 harness plugs to release the cluster. I usually roll it toward me to get to those wires.

Yah they sell them in the car accessories section, they are like $20 for all four, and they have different colors too.

Is there a specific type of bulb I need to get to order the L.E.D's from superbrightleds.com?
