What is a good & quick way to test if your transmission is in trouble? I just had a transmission oil change and I could swear shifting has become less smooth than before. Another thing I notice now is after a 30 minute drive on the highway, I park and when I put the car into Nuetral or Park the RPM revs up to 2 and seems like it wants to stay there. I just happen to pull up the E-brake and feel quite alot of heat from the panel under the E-brake. I plan to have it looked at tomorrow, and possibly pick up an AT cooler to be installed. Any insight would be appreciated.

diagnosis:

if there is a button on your shifter, and it isn't a tap button for nos, then your tranny is junk. If your shifter moves in an H pattern, through 1-R, then your tranny is good

It sounds to me like some kind of electrical problem. Check your tranny fluid and if it smells burnt then you probably need a new tranny, the fluid might be low or high so check the level too.
