well... i removed mine and the car looks great without them. the only thing is, is that it takes hours to scrub off the adhesive that holds them on. they just peeled right off and then scrub away at the glue!
another thing you could try is to put armor all on them. i know it sounds crazy, but it works. those moldings are plastic and the armor all will shine them right up.
good luck!!

i'm telling you to try the armor-all before you do anything. i bet it makes it look better. the only thing is, you will have to start using it every couple of weeks to keep it shining.

Re: Side door moulding solution?
I actually covered mine over with a carbon fiber tape I got at this place on Queens Blvd NY. It lasted for about 4 years until it started to rust (don't ask). It was a real subtle look but when people noticed it they flipped.

Re: Side door moulding solution?
Mad Dahn,
Before i had my entire car painted, i had the tops portion of all my moldings have sun damage on them. Removing them and reinstalling them would be difficult in the sense that you need some really good adheasive to keep it on there. What i did initially, was to tape up (masking tape) the surrounding body of the car (which will cover up really well if you line the tape just between the crease of the molding with the car), sand, prime it, and paint it. If you take a little time, sand it evenly, prime and paint it correctly (back and forth and very lightly, not holding it over the thing) it will come out very nicely. On my maxima it matched to car perfectly. All if you find the correct match of paint, they dont seem to be making to the charcoal grey colour anymore. But thats just me.
