Nissan Maxima Digital Dash and HUD Swap Tutorial

Here is a tutorial I created while putting the GXE digital dash and heads up display into an SE.

DIY 3rd Generation Nissan Maxima Digital Dash and HUD Swap

I hope some folks find this useful should they be fortunate enough to find one of these rare gems. I've really grown to like mine.

Looks more like a tutorial you created based off of my research, work and knowledge that I shared with the community. It's a nice detailed guide, which is more than I can say about my abbreviated write up, but a little credit would be nice. Considering your intro is nearly a carbon copy of the intro from my page, and the layout is nearly the same, as well as the part where you embed my video..

Anyway, it's all good. Nice write up regardless

The man's got a point... he was probably one of the first to do the full swap and he did post lots of pics and vids a few years ago but I agree thanks for the write up, just give the man some credit here

I tried not to sound like an *******, It still kind of reads like that though I think.. I was just a little miffed, mostly at the "Copyright © 2010 All Rights Reserved" part.

Craig Brace did a digital dash/heads up conversion several years back as well as a lot of other things. He had 2 web sites with all the how-to and photos. I don't think that either web site is working any more.

Yeah I got a 89 GXE with digital dash/heads up speedometer and I'm really
feelin' it. The windshield has a special built in portion for the reflection of
the projected numbers, like a hologram it looks like. Anyway I think it's a dope
swap for your SE.

I did mine several yrs ago back when my car drove. i actually kept both clips on so can plug in digital or analog whenever i need to HUD suced i cut mine in place its a little off so the numbers lean a little on the glass. only thing i hated was the cold effecting the dash from working

There's two ***** on the dash, you twist one of them for a half second.

Maybe I should let the OP handle this one

I'll be adding some new things to my site pretty soon, while i'm at it, i'll make a simple HUD install guide since Cregg's site is history. If you get your hands on a dash before that happens, send me a PM and i'll help you out.

Yeah the Heads Up Dash is nice, my Bytch came with HUD, the windshield for the projection speedometer can be pricey though. Definately worth the effort and money to posses this option on your 3rdgen.

It's worthless without the control unit. HUD install is a waste of the entire dash just to have some boring 3 digit display on the windshield that you will never look at.

Stop bumping this biter's thread.

he may be a biter but im still write-up less for installing a HUD with no digital dash

and its probably one of the coolest mods u can do to a 3rd gen considering its stock and looks/is cool as hell, right up there with ACC IMO

I'll post the HUD info while I'm updating the site with some things. I'll be doing that pretty soon

The digital dash is what's cool as hell IMO, HUD only is kind of neat for 10 minutes but then you forget about it.

i have like 2 sets of HUD's and control unit but no digi cluster. i only did the HUD retrofit to my 3rd gen. yeah its cool to have eventhough you'll forget about it 10 min. later. the same with my jdm power fold heated mirrors. i'll use it once in a while and then forget about it too.
