hey, I have a 1994 se auto with 175K miles and now when I try and put it into gear it slips, I mean it feels like it wants to go in but just revs and nothing happens and you can hear clicking like its trying to slip in...can anyone tell me how to fix that or do I just need a new tranny?

 

slips when you put it into gear? is drive the only thing that doesn't function, meaning does reverse work?

 

is there enough fluid? is it clean? what about positions other than D (ie 2, L, R)? if the fluid is fine then it's probably an internal problem but there's a very slim chance it could be something electrical as well but not as likely as a mechanical problem. but before ripping anything apart you should get the fsm (at.pdf is the auto-tranny section) from here (http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1994/) and do the diagnostic test for the re4f04v (92-94 SE auto) tranny

 

it doesn't go into R and doesn't work in any gear

 

5 speed swap or another auto tranny, your choice.

 

Yea that tranny is done so like he said 5 spd swap, new auto tranny, or another car.
