Update.. lol

The VE has recieved part of it's drag coefficiancy back, with this close to mint condition bumper/support we recieved from Brudda Bob's parts car. Lucky for us, the bottom frame was not bent at all, and installation was easier then I thought it would be. We also replaced that center peice behind the grill that holds the horns. All he needs now is a hood, and upper frame to make things sit close to flush. Still did not try to see how a grille would fit in there.

I was wondering if the upper frame supports the head lights as well, because the passanger side area where the head light sits seems to be a bit mashed in, and the drivers side is not flush either, so Im thinking if we replace that upper frame, would that fix the issue?

By upper frame you mean the core support? Headlights bolt directly to it and is what holds them in the correct position. If it's bent, pull it as far forward as you can. When you put the new hood on you'll probably cringe at the overall alignment of the front end as well. It takes a lot of tweaking to get the car looking like it's never been in an accident without replacing the support and even then it must be aligned perfectly as it is from the factory.

If thats the technical term for it, then yeah the core support. It's the one right behind the radiator cap. I see what your saying. So it won't be as easy as I thought to make it look close to perfect. You wouldn't happen to know if theres anything else holding that core support other then the 2 10mm bolts on each side that can be seen when removing the corner lights, and just the obvious 10mm that can be seen from the top on each side, would you?

The support is spot welded in multiple places. Those bolts secure the fenders and headlights, that's all. If you want to replace the support, you need to cut it out and weld in a new one.

Ouch.. Thats bad. I was afraid of that when I was looking at what was holding that support, but a few people said that it's seperate and I went with that unfortunatly. I guess we gotta call those gypsies up again in the future if he wants it to be close to perfect. Man, those lines were so perfect on the car before this accident

Yet another update

As the VE rebirth process continues, we are pretty much back in business. As we were sanding down the bumper, so we could prime and spray paint it black, we were visited by another pair of very nice gypsies strolling by looking to make some money, who were nice enough to do a much better job with the frame/hood straightening using their big metal hammer and our help to butterfly the hood down wards. They also helped us spray paint the bumper with proper technique. The grille got a bit of paint as well. Total labor cost $40 bucks. Now the grille fits, hood is pretty much flush to the fenders, and head lights are facing where they should. The radiator, fans, and condenser are all in place, except none of the mounting holes line up and nothing is secure. Thats the next step. I'll try to get better pics up soon..
