Need help ASAP! Key stuck in Ignition.

Dont mean to make another thread. I had talk to cadaver and some others about my **** not being able to pull back even when pressing on the brakes. Me and my dad had been tryin to fix the green box to fix that, but now i my key is stick in the ignition and i cant take it out. Its completely on park, im pressing on the brakes, none of it works. Anyone else have that problem or know what to do ? please let me know thanks.

pull the circular trim ring around the ignition switch off.. there's a little metal release button inside there that will unlock the normal release button. push that with a pen or another key or something.

then see if it happens again.

the key thing is actually controlled by another switch mounted on the shifter itself... that is supposed to read when you're in park. if it goes bad then it might keep the key from releasing. that's kindof why i said do the FSM test rather than automatically assuming the green box, because if that switch is bad then it also would prevent the shifter from coming out of park regardless if the green box works, because it sends a signal to the green box that has to be present for the green box to operate.

start on AT-164... the switch that i'm talking about is the "detention switch". but basically if you have a multimeter (or if you don't... get one from harbor freight for $4) do the 2 diagnostic tests in this section to make sure you can fix both problems.

eh, technician or not, it's best to use the FSM procedures to test stuff, since they were written specifically for that system by the people who designed it in the first place. your dad's tests might be based on (well-founded) assumptions about how things were designed that end up not being true for this particular system on this particular car.

o and apparently the green box controls the key lock as well.. i knew it received a signal from the detention switch, didn't know it sent the control signal for the key lock as well. have you guys already replaced the green box or what?

wow cadaver you are brilliant haha. I took out the ring, pushed the red button. it came out. after putting taking out the key, i put in key again, only the second time the regular button to release the key worked. my dad measured the solenoid and says its good, it supplies the voltage there and clicks. And i checked the shifting fuse is good as well. Only one thing now is the green box, theres nothing clicking in the green box, but i noticed when my dad was measuring the ohm on the greenbox, the selenoid started to click.

If the ignition is not in the lock position, even without the key, it will assume that there's a key in the cylinder and the chime (and I think the door lights too) will stay on and will drain your battery.

Key and Gear problems Nissan Maxima 2006 3.5 SL

As of July 10, 2014 my 2006 3.5 SL Nissan Maxima's CV axle broke after 2 1/2 months feeling of shaking and bobbling on the passenger side, then 10 minutes later gear would not shift out of neutral only would go to Park gear and drive. I have to use a screw driver or pen to change gears in the shift lock....How do I get this back right where I can move freely between gears without sticking anything in shift lock? The same day 20 minutes later my key is stuck in the ignition, been trying for hours to get them out. How do I get my key out simply without paying money or calling a locksmith? ASAP..I have to leave my car windows open so I can get in car, doors will not lock! Got oil changed and CV axle, and strut are going to be fixed on 07/11/2014..HELP
