Hey bro what's going on? Do you have any more info on this post? I'm interested...
z euro cams
the euro cam you definetly feel mid to high very hard i have personaly pulled away from 94se five speeds on top end and vg 5speed with stage two clutches iam not saying all this is due to cams since the car has been tuned on the dynoe with apexi afc and numerous runs with different timing settings for optimal performance. And also i give 4th gens a run for there money ask some of the guys who rode up to the jersey meet i can hang and bring some drama.
I think it was posted by O/D Max...

Re: Attn: DA-Max
yeah....aside from the NJ meet I've ridden in his car personally and for a VG auto, its fast as hell!!!
we raced Neil another DC member his auto VE had CAI, Y, tuned AFC...basically a mid 15's car. on the higway O/D's VG auto not only kept up but eventually passed him and kept going! I wasn't with him when he raced the 4th gen, but seeing how it pulled on the VE auto I don't doubt it! but consider his other mods p/p intake and exhaust manifolds, CAI, Y, MSD 6al and tuned AFC....along with the Euro cams seems like the key to VG topend! so if you're questioning the validity of his story, take it from me he's not lying at all!

Not questioning the story... interested in doing. Where can these cams be purchased?
Damn
I am getting NEW exhaust manifolds put on today... Wish they were ported and polished... How much for that? I plan on getting the intake done soon too... CAI and Y are a must. Explain the tuned AFC? Anything to make the VG's faster...

I hope you're ready to READ!!!!!!(LOL)-->
porting and polishing the I/E manifolds doesn't really have a definite price...any automotive machine shop should be able to do a professional quality job on all 4 manifolds for under $800-1k is my guess....Extrude Hone is a similiar process to port/polishing, but some say it is not as "agressive", but you can check it out here for yourself--> http://www.extrudehone.com/automotiveaftr.html
now for the AFC, get ready for a Looooooong descrition.....
the Super AFC is an air/fuel controller that allows adjustment of the air fuel ratio by way of the air flow meter signal, allowing the driver to adjust the a/f ratio from lean to rich along the RPM band in I think 50rpm incriments. tunig for lean starts off the line and gradually richening the mixture as the RPM climbs is rumored to have the best effect, BUT this is also dangerous since leaning out too much can lead to detonation and BOOOM, so its suggested to be tuned by trianed pros, but the other advantage of having a pro tune the system is that you can now PROPERLY tune the unit using a dyno and wideband O2 sensor/meter, which will allow you to avoid "bad" spots when finalizing the settings and get the most out of it! so now with that fully tuned it would be smart to add an auxiliary ignition box(ie- MSD or Jacobs)...the MSD 6AL is a good choice if "magnifies" spark energy and allows you to adjust the rev limiter accordingly to attain the most power out of the car and the added modifications and also to prevent burning the pistons! with this combination and proper tuning I think Max O/D saw an improvement of 10-12hp....all in all this system is just a "Do-it-yourself ECU upgrade"!!! basically by combining these two units you're just doing what JWT, JET and Superchips do when you send them your ECU to be "modified"...so basically its not too different from buying an ECU upgrade! but personally I'm going with this system as well, its a little more risky since tuning will vary upon vehicle condition, but the possibilities and the ability to tune "on the spot" seems like a much better option to me!
check the AFC out here--> http://apexi-usa.com/electronics_safc.asp
did you read all of that!

DA-MAX: Good info bro. Just one last thing...
What about that cam upgrade. I've seen JWT's cams for $500+ but the euro ones mentioned seemed to have a slightly better (aggressive) angle... but not too harsh (JWT stage II) that has better use for turbo'd cars. Where can you purchase these cams, what is the exact name of them etc? Thanks... As always good info

heres the link to the cams-->
http://nismoparts.safeshopper.com/65/cat65.htm?691
if it doesn't work goto nismoparts.com and look in the z31 section! and don't forget it suggested that you get new lifters(12) and check your valve springs as well! also here are some more cam selections and a good page that compares the specs--> http://www.z31.com/cams.shtml
the JWT IIs are the Top Pick though when it come down to all out "crazyness"!--> http://www.cattman.com/cams.shtml
but on the other hand the Nismo euros are less expensive and work well with the VG auto!

I hear ya... I'm going to look into the Z31 cams. No craziness... yet..
And since they work with the VG without too much modding it sounds like a good bet. I wonder how much all new lifters and valve spings would be??? I'll call courtesy... Thanks for the info. Maybe we'll actually meet up around the way soon...
