Has anyone installed an LCD in place of stero?

I've been thinking of a good and cheap way to install a GPS/DVD/TV/Stero/computer in place of the stock stero. From what I can tell removing the Stero and cupholder below will provide a double din area right? I'm thinking about a 5.6" display or possibly 7" depending on the space needed.

I'm going to be using computer compenants since they are cheaper. (I have tons of that stuff laying around to.) The DVD/CD drive I am going to try to fit behind the display. (I know the drive does not have anti skip but it's really going to be used when the car is parked anyway.)

The rest of the computer I was hoping to shoe horn under the seat or maybe a place under the dash but I doubt there is room there. So has anyone worked on a project like this? Is it legal to have the screen in that position? Any suggestions?

btw if your putting a drive in dash its gonna have to be external cause of the length you cable you require. i looked into it too, 36 inch cable is the longest you can buy, its also the longest recommended cable length. good luck

I have a computer in my car....

I am completed my carPC and I'm just waiting to get the money to purchase my in-dash LCD and new head unit.
Below is the site for my car computer. I have not updated it since August sometime so there are no pics of the box in my car. You may also want to visit www.mp3car.com and #mp3car on efNet.

Enjoy,
Eric.
