Need help asap auto trans rebuild

I tore down the trans and replaced all the clutches sand seals about two weeks ago. I had to stop half way due to some bearings and the brake band needed replaced. So two weeks later and the parts are in. I can not figure out what this snap ring goes to. I have Re checked everything. This snap ring in the pic does not fit anywhere. Also I am needing one in the clutch drum itself pictured in side of where Im holding the snap ring. If anyone can help me would be appreciated.

there should be one snap ring on either side of the one way clutch... one on the planetary carrier side, and another one on top of the one way clutch.

use at-186/187 for reference

Thanks that helps. Looks like My dad moved my trans in the garage when he put his truck in and threw the snap ring I need away!!! Off to the junkyard to tear out a trans just for a stinking snap ring.

ahh.
hate to scrap an entire salvage yard tranny for one part, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Wonder if a local private nissan shop (there are several here) has a dead auto tranny you could get the parts from. There's a couple here in Houston I could pick that up for free if they had it... but doesn't do you a whole lotta good, now does it?

I dropped a 5 speed in a junkyard for a single part once, but that 1 part was the bell housing..

well if the car says "bad trans" on it then it's nothing to feel bad about. the internals were already shot, but the snap ring isn't going to be the reason why.

true dat. you never see that in yards around here. most of them here will pull the engine and tranny out w/ the CV joints, headlights, electronics, etc. then they stick it in the yard for people to rob the bits & pieces. some of the places around here still think a VG (or an auto tranny) is worth $600.....

Ya im off to the yard in about an hour. Im thinking I can get it out and apart in an hour. My record for a 5spd is 23 min from start to trans on the ground. Had two buddys watch me and almost crap their pants when I did it that fast. (No power tools)
So far cost is $170 rebuild kit $80 to machine new bearing $114 for new brake band. So under $400 for rebuilt trans I think still coming out ok. The trans had 79k when put it in. Went out due to cracked trans line to radiator. So now it has around 130k
