Position Switch
If it is in fact the switch itself, it is kind of a pain in the ***.. Drain gear oil, and try to twist it out. If you don't want to break it, you almost need to pound it out from the inside which requires cracking open the trans.. There's also a little white jumper behind the switch which you won't want to have fall inside the case. If there is gunk or corrosion on the copper, it probably just needs scuffed. I would try to get it out without breaking it, but it's hard to do, so you should probably have a good replacement on hand. I think I have one for a good price if you want it.

basically what he said
what usually fails is the metal sliding contact on the gear selector thingy, which can be fixed by hand and put back into the tranny. BUT. in order to get to it you have to get the switch off, which is basically impossible without breaking it. this is what i'm referring to, that can be bent back flat by hand

I called the dealership yesterday and the guy told me about two types of bracket that works with the switch and I need to measure the diameter of the hold to know which one to order along with the switch itself. Is this making sense?
He's looking at E11 which is the wrong part number. It's flagged for some reason talking about 1.5mm hole diameter difference from two other part numbers.
