i'm right at 250,000. it's still on original engine/tranny, but i think the tranny part is about to change. all those reverse burnouts i did back in high school have finally taken their toll, lol. other than that, the car's always been good. still delivers power well and amazes people with the mileage.

I just hit 200000 on Sunday. I have the original engine and tranny. The only engine items I've replaced are the exhaust studs and fuel injectors. It still runs and pulls hard.

Take a look at my 200K rollover video.

197K+ and I've been through hell and back (but I've beaten the Max the whole way!). I've been through two transmission (going on number 3), 3 clutches, 3 sets of springs AND struts (including stock), and a number of corner lenses. Actually, the only thing still original on my car is the carpet and headliner and the rear seat. Oh yeah, the Bose cassette/cd is still original, but the driver's side front amp is out. Go figure.

Oh yeah, I've also replaced rings and retainers, every bearing you could imagine, 3 sets of wheel studs all around, 2 sets of rotors all around, 4 sets of pads all around, 4 sets of tires, 3 sets of rims...

and two sets of rear triangular windows on either side from jerks who like to steal stuff.

Max looks great and runs great (except for not having a transmission in it right now). I'll be hittin the car shows again this summer, though. Congrats on 200K, Bryan!

I got a 92 model with 188k on it. The ONLY time it broke down was due to a dead battery. The timing belt, water pump, and radiator are the only things to have been worked on...aside from other maintenence items. It starts like a new car every time I turn the key, and idles perfect.

155K here. Original tranny and clutch. I think something is up with my tranny though. It is kind of groaning. I was worried about it so I checked and the fluid is still at proper level. I guess I have to take her in and ask the Dealer

Almost at 151K, 90 SE. bougth it at 136k about 1 1/2 years. Little loose and noisey front suspension. I'm sure it needs work. Body in good condition and engine idles rough when Warm. Other wise can't complain.

156k and counting. Original clutch. Car still runs hard despite an accident at 48k miles that wound up being more to repair than the car was worth (at the time) (18k on '92 SE 5spd in 1995).

Glad the insurance company decided to fix it!!

can't believe this thread got revived from 2 years ago.

anyways, current max has 157k, one before that was in a wreck was at 155k, it would probably be close to 175k with all my driving if it wasn't totaled.

btw, i was at an autocross last sunday and the photographer for the San francisco region of the scca has a 90 max se 5 speed - original owner with 307k miles. saw it with my own eyes. original motor - don't know about the clutch tho.

New to the forum today. Engine is original, replaced injectors, timing belt and water pump. Rebuilt autotrans at about 100k, but found out later that previous owner towed a trailer. I love the car but rust is starting to make me think about a new one.

rebuilds/replacements at these benchmarks

i have a 90SE 5spd. i rebuilt the tranny at about 150k. i put in a new clutch and flywheel at this point. i rebuilt the heads at about 172k. that made a big difference in it's throttle response. and it gained more "pep" generally. at that same time, i had new timing belt (2nd replacement), tensioner; water pump installed. i then added CAI and a hi-flow exhaust system from heads to muffler. recently, at about 175k, i had new CV joints and wheel bearings all around installed. next are struts and lowering springs. it runs smooth as silk. like a dream. the exhaust is loud as h*** on hard acceleration, but i like it. i will slam the car tastefully. a "sleeper."

Re: Hey look! It's ME!!

Presently have 177,000 miles. The only thing that I had to do as far as the engine and tranny is concerned is replace the tranny at 123,000. Since then, I have been running great; however, I believe that I need to do some front-end suspension work.

Re: Re: Hey look! It's ME!!

yes. the front end will start to go around 170 thousand. not overly so, mind you, as it will be pretty solid until then. but the struts and springs will start failing. mine are, as they make this popping sound at times. so this is a perfect excuse to just redo the entire suspension. i'm lowering the car and putting on new everything all the way around. i recently replaced all CV joints and all-the-way around wheel bearings. now it glides like on smooth glass. my largest concern on aging cars is the electrical failures that begin happening. and those symptoms always seem to come in waves, like several things will start to go all at once.

203k

203k on my 90gxe. No engine/tranny overhaul or replacement. Odometer actually likes to get stuck occassionally, next time I tear everything apart I'll have to clean that gunk off. Does that make me 4th or 5th place? Do I get bonus points for all the electrical stuff starting to fail? ie. rear brake light melted (no joke), motor/switch/regulator gone out on driver's side, more to come? But, I am very thankful that maxine has been so good to me.

electrics

one of the first things to fail was the electrical motor running the antenna. i fixed it once, and it broke again, so i just kept it broken.

if you can fix it, duck it. if you can't duck it, f**k it.

Hehehe, sorry, but that's in kilometers. I do believe there's a lot of other runner ups. As for brake lights melting, I've had that happen to my right and 3rd lights.

I have 165k on mine. Original engine and transmission, although that last part won't be the same much longer. Everytime I come to an intersection or have to slow down, the transmissions slips bad. Needless to say, the tax returns for this year are pretty much spoken for.

327,083

I have 327,083 miles on my 91 Nissan Max SE, 5 spd. It has been a great car with no major repairs. In fact, only the passenger side CV boot and a rack and pinion. But now it is powerless and I've been looking for about 3 months for a performance motor. Still no luck. But above all, 327,083 isn't toooooo bad.

How about 339K !

I looked at a 92 SE 5-speed that a friend of my neighbor had for sale a couple of weeks ago. It had 339K on it and still ran okay. The owner said he had the original clutch replaced at 300K. He was only asking $1000, and sounded like he would have taken less, but I didn't have the nerve to buy something with that many miles. He had regular oil changes done on it and said it had been very reliable. I drove it more out of curiosity, than actual interest in buying it. It was surprising how well it ran.
