The little holder itself says it will take up to a 44 oz drink.

I just measured the diameter of the little holder and it's 4" which would hold a rather large drink

Here's the biggest cup I could find offhand as a test

That's an aesthetic mod! You have to justify the addition based on it's performance-enhancing capabilities. How many g's will this cup holder take over standard in-crotch drink placement? Does the additional weight on the passenger side throw off cornering ability? We need science, man!

I used to wonder this as well, but then when you take into account the size of Japanese soda cans, it all makes perfect sense

I generally don't allow food or drinks in the car. I make a few exceptions, usually for D-Bo when we drive to the Oregon games.

Mostly, I just use stuff with resealable lids.

^ JDM can win

i never allow food or drinks in my 3rd gen either, but one time i went to DQ and put my Pepsi in the "cupholder", of course when i took off it flew onto the passenger side floor and i had a tidlewave of Pepsi on the floor

the little "cupholder" on 3rd gens probably fits Red Bulls and those other little cans but otherwise they fail

nice James thats good for the passenger but how bout a driver side? haha

My pop out "cupholder" tray i use to stash my gas pump receipts. For a cup i pull the ebrake up by one click (not enough to even engage the back brakes) and wedge the cup between the handle and the passenger seat - works great for the large Taco Bell drinks!

You can tell the japanese vs american cars - our roomy sedans have this dinky little tray while my camaro with useless back seats has a nice sized spot for TWO drinks back there and then two more up front!

I had one of my friends put a Mcdonalds drink on the glovebox cup holder, Didn't think about it and drove off. Needless to say but the drink went flying all over him and the passenger seat..

Same for the cup holders under the radio, totally useless. Turn a corner and they tilt and spill everywhere.

No drinks allowed in my car anymore. And when my max is back on the road, no more food either.

A Real Cup Holder!!!

I hooked this up myself about a year ago after getting tired of holding my coffee cup between my legs on the way to work.

Shiloh, did you screw that into the center console?

I don't normally allow drinks in my car either, but sometimes, it's realllllly nice to have like on long drives/road trips/whatever. It also sucks trying to carry 3-4 drinks when picking up food for several people

Anyway, I only did this because my brother picked up some of those old in-door drop in cupholders for his '79 Civic. I took one just to see if it would fit the Maxima door and it didnt (the Maxima door panel is too wide). So I cut the upper section off of the cupholder and bent my own upper section to fit over the door panel and into the window channel out of some metal stock I had and then riveted the plastic to the metal.

Eventually I'm going to fabricate some nice ones that go in the stock location in the pull-out drawer thing but I'm lazy and haven't sourced the actual cupholder portions from another car that are large enough. The Taurus cupholders that some do don't really hold much either

[quote=James92SE;7781571]Shiloh, did you screw that into the center console?

I used a shelve bracket elbow to connect to console and the adjustable cup holder itself. I drink coffee on the regular and needed a cup holder badly, so I hooked this one up. The cup holder itself works great as far as keeping the cups in the holder and it's adjustable, which is good for whatever obviously. It matches as far as color so it's permanent as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't even spill around sharp turns or bumpy roads. Yeah, I can't believe Nissan didn't factor in the need for a good cup holder for there big car back then. My 93' Nissan Sentra has the pull out cup holders under there head unit and right above the ashtray, which is annoying if you smoke but better than the glove box spot.

I vaguely remember that

I didn't let people eat/drink in my Maxima. Its funny, the Durango has three cup holders more than there are seats in it and while the BMW only has two cup holders (I think) only one of them is really useful (nothing will fly out of it, its awesome)

The best cup holders are the plastic floor console deals with a spot for pens and CDs. The CD compartment can be used as a trash bin. Keeps the car clean, and the holders are adjustable to hold just about any cup secure.

Will this turn into a project log thread?

My project for later is to continue prepping the jdm motor - got everything cleaned up and tested the injectors last night (all read ~12ohms) Now id like to get some longer fuel injecton hose and hook up the rail+injector assembly, mount over a garbage pail or something similar to catch the fuel, and check the spray patterns

You guys need to go to walmart more often! I bought a set of those little flimsy things( I think they come in sets of 2) tried to put one on my driverside door, and it didnt work out! I threw them away, and went and bought the $4 2 cup holder that you can wedge in between the driver or passenger side seat and console, and its been great for me. I haven't spilled anything, and Ive been getting large drinks from Mcdonalds alot. Ive used it for like 2 yearz n no problems.
