Well finally finished the swap it took some time due to me painting the engine bay and cleaning the motor and installing new parts just for my satisfaction. the hardest part was just doing it. I had to pull two motors to put one in lol. I wish i took step by step photos for any one else interested but i took a few just for in'case you guys wanna see even though we all got the same motors.
If you have the main wiring harness and ecu plus the whole wiring harness coming from fuse panel in car to all the lights under the hood the accelerator cable and y pipe and wheel hubs with c/v axles and motor mounts you can do it. Im still waiting to get new axles and warp speed y pipe.

sorry bout the size this my first post i see i need to resize it took me a while to figure out how to post
no im regretting it it wasnt wet oily when i removed the tranny so i said id let it fly for now i noticed the front main seal started leaking a lil so i ordered a front seal last night from rock auto.
the horn works but the turn signals dont and the key wont crank the car i have to jump the the starter solenoid. i havent checked into it yet but maybe this weekend do u have any ideas?

For the turn signals you will have to splice into the engine room harness. The key start is something else. Try the VE ignition switch and the harness that goes to it.

Congrats on the swap, you got a little carried away with the spray paint in the engine bay though.

i agree \. been driving vg 5 speed for a long time good power, but it doesnt compare to the ve 3000 rpms its over no comparison i know the vg has super low end torque but it aint no good without horse power. all it took was when i bought the ve 5 down shifted into second car felt like it wanted to fly compared to the vg. im not dissing the vg but the ve way better as far as performance

This comes a little late, but maybe you're still lurking around. All anyone needs to do is drive both a VG and a VE and make the comparison.
That should be more than enough evidence that the VG is more powerful in the low end,
where most driving occurs under normal conditions. But since you asked for proof,
here's a couple scans from original US/JAP brochures, I even converted the metric graph to ft/lbs.
Notice how the VE curve starts out 8 ft/lbs lower than the VG before a small spike where it then flatlines at ~173 ft/lbs
from 15-32k while VG does nothing but produce more and more torque throughout virtually the same range until it hits its
peak of 183 ft lbs, where it is then overtaken as the VE finally comes to life.

I drive my VE car like a lunatic, because it's fun. I hold out shifting until the last second, because it's fun. I bought this car because it's fun. I added a WSP y-pipe to make it more fun. If I wanted a car that had more power while driving "normally", I'd have bought a Diesel commuter. I also own a 1977 Trans Am with a 7.5 L engine in it. It has as much torque as a one ton dually pickup truck. It gets 10 mpg. It's a quick car, but I wouldn't call it a fast car. Torque isn't everything. That is all.

Perv: I've owned 4 VE's, and 3 VG's over the past 7 years, all stock, never had grounded VTCs in any of them. Not to mention the family Max that I rode along in, and drove from 1990-2000. If all I ever saw was factory graphs without experiencing each car, or if I never actually noticed a difference, i'd admit the VE is quicker in every aspect. But I know from driving multiples of each car that yes, the VE is faster flat out, yes it gets better gas mileage overall, yes it's fun to drive fast. But the bottom line is the VG does produce noticeably more acceleration power from a dead stop and under ~3k than the VE. The VE is the exact opposite, it seems to lag from a dead stop and throughout normal (low end) operating range, pretty much until the intake timing adjusts.
If you'll notice, those dyno sheets you posted begin at 2k RPM for the VE, and 3600 for the VG. Well after peak VG torque, and right around the range where VG power drops and VE power begins. My whole point revolves around 1st gear pulls and normal everyday driving. Not dyno runs or driving at high speed

I owned VE 5sps and my bro owned VG 5-sps. His felt grunty down low. But with my fidanza, I could rev up to my torque peak faster and my hp is sustained alot londer while my bro has to shift into the next gear.

available and that even the rebuild kits are out of production.
You're wrong they are available, in fact I have a few sitting in my house. I did a real world test with my brother driving a VG. He kept up nicely but you know...I drove it and the low end is pretty nice.Originally Posted by Pervis Anathema
I would go VG 5spd. I'm pretty sure that new VTC assemblies are no longeravailable and that even the rebuild kits are out of production.

Bought it earlier this year, when I was finalizing all mechanical repair on the turd gen.

On a side note I bought a VG30e from a running 94 Max last week...brings my engine count to (2) VQ35DE (2) VE30DE (2) VG30E AB/W series. No more!!!

I might sell the spare VQ35 this week to a kid who is doing a 3.5 swap. A spare for my VE 3rd gen. And the VG is going into my Z31.

I'm there, but quieter sounding.
Great job. Sounds like a good running VE. Very nice color as well. Midnight purple/blue? Man your so lucky to live in an area like that. Got your own little backyard you can pull out of when ever you want, do any type of work you want without people bothering you. How did you find out about the VE motor that you knew you had to swap it in?
a friend had one he picked it up for 400 dollars needed paint he had fines and needed license had no job. I got the car for 200 dollars with a 143000 miles on it
